Not as different as you think, just different in practice.

 

Hazard back when I was in high school had private practices on the hill above the field.( I went to cross town rival Perry Central) I'm guess to save their grass field for games. But now they are open to the public.

When I coached for Beechwood we were crawling around those hills.

 

I remember it like it was yesterday, we would drive until the sun didn't shine anymore, we would stop at Lee's Famous Recipe in Hazard, then we did our stealth approach.

Please share your oh so infinite wisdom on how any of Cooper's Football Staff is unethical......

Did NCC play Cooper Freshmen this evening at Cooper, after Cooper Varsity practice. Was this individual there for the Freshman game?

 

If this is the case and he wasn't there to scout/spy, this entire post is moot. Also kinda funny. Leave it up to the peeps from Union to jump to conclusions. And I'm from Union. Kinda typical for both schools in Union : )

I was at Cooper with a delivery as mentioned in the posts above.

Apparently a NCC coach sat in the stadium stands today and watched Cooper's practice. The stadium is open for track walkers etc so in a sense practices are open to the public.

 

My question is to the ethics of this. Do you think it is an issue? Should he have been asked to leave?

 

Not only are they getting insight into the team they play in two days by watching the field, but I assume it also has to alter the practice as the team on the field doesn't want to give things away.

 

Maybe teams do it all the time but I have not heard of it being so blatant.

There are some great tales of folklore back in the day of Boyle County players chasing Danville coaches through the cornfields during rivalry week. However, I cannot confirm or deny the accuracy of such tales.:idunno:

Its horribly unethical if it occurs, but in my experience there are always a lot of accusation and not a lot of facts, and the accusations typically occur after a woodshedding.

If true I don't like it all.

No one was chased but I do recall the assistant from Danville spying on year. :thumb:

So it is confirmed the 2 frosh teams played so yeah NewCath people were there to watch that game. Dumb thing to complain about.

Ok, I didn't know of the game that was to happen 3 hours latter with the freshman.

 

What I do know is that the Cooper coaches knew he was there and they told the boys such. They also changed their practice plans and it sounds like they didn't get to practice a number of things needed as to not give away changes. That is why I asked the question in the first place.

 

Also, my son corrected me - the varsity was practicing on the practice field, not main. The NCC coach was parked towards the practice field. He also stayed in his car watching the whole practice, not head into the stadium with the freshman team when they went in.

 

Again, he has the right to be there with the game to be played later, but it definately affected the Cooper practice and I was curious as to the thoughts of this group.

 

Obviously there are a lot of bitter and unconstructive thoughts running around as well.

I'd say Cooper is a little paranoid for a meaningless game. As my coach told us, if the opposing team head coach wants to sit in our huddle, go ahead. They aren't going to stop us either way.
