September 6, 20179 yr So he's suspended but he's going to play week 1? Did I read that right? At this point, I'm not sure he'll serve his suspension at all this year. I think it will be drawn out just like the Brady case.
September 6, 20179 yr It's fair that if they were as good at their job as Zeke is at his they would have a job still. But when I discuss fairness I'm talking specifically about how punishments are handed out amongst the NFL. There are lots of things that I think the NFL does that are unfair. How teams decide who they sign doesn't have to be fair. How the NFL governs their organization has to be fair to all of the members of that organization. This has simply not been the case. Maybe so. I've spent too much time talking about it. I'm glad he's playing anyway.
September 6, 20179 yr When the collective bargaining agreement is up, I think we should all be prepared to not have professional football for several months into the season. No chance they miss games over the NFL's power in regards to discipline. It just doesn't effect enough of them. 2000 players and something like 6 players a year affected by this over the last 10 years.

It just doesn't effect enough of them. 2000 players and something like 6 players a year affected by this over the last 10 years. The discipline is just a portion of all of this. I think they are already preparing to miss games. It's going to happen.

It just doesn't effect enough of them. 2000 players and something like 6 players a year affected by this over the last 10 years. Exactly. This gets a lot of attention, but has very little impact. They need to hold out because DeMaurice Smith has been in a clown suit since he has become the NFLPA rep and the players' revenues have continually decreased under his leadership.
September 6, 20179 yr This is getting back to a Tom Brady situation where the courts are going to be ruling upon the league's power under their agreement to investigate/rule the way in which they did. The Brady case shocked me in that it made it as far as it did. The NFLPA did a good job of trying to try the merits of the "deflating of footballs," in the lower court, but the appeal court knew that was not what it was about and cut it off there. This case with the conflicting positions of the Commissioner's Domestic Violence team and his refusal to hear testimony makes me believe the NFLPA/Elliot have a stronger case than Brady.

I heard a sports lawyer talking on the radio today (Chris McManus?) and he made it clear that the NFL commissioner is under no obligation to view any particular testimony/evidence or hear from any particular witnesses in these cases. They can do the investigation anyway they want because of the way it is currently written in the collective bargaining agreement.

It's all smoke and mirrors. The NFLPA is dead in the water. He needs to just take his 6 games and move on. Yes, they may get a win in the lower courts like the last time but it will get overturned in the court of appeals. The union has no one to blame but themselves, it's really that simple.
September 8, 20179 yr Cowboys RB Ezekiel Elliott has been granted a temporary restraining order by a Texas district court, per court docs. He can play.
September 8, 20179 yr Raise your hand if you're familiar with the legal system and drafted Zeke in round 2.......
September 8, 20179 yr Raise your hand if you're familiar with the legal system and drafted Zeke in round 2....... Well, I took him in the 2nd round of all 4 leagues... So risk paid off...
September 9, 20179 yr Well, I took him in the 2nd round of all 4 leagues... So risk paid off... You're in the money!
September 11, 20179 yr Arbitrator upheld the six games, however Elliot will play week 1. When McAdoo was asked about preparing for Elliot he said "all running backs run the same when theres nowhere to run" He must have been talking about the Giants running backs. :lol2:
September 11, 20179 yr He must have been talking about the Giants running backs. :lol2: The Giants defense did well considering how much they were on the field.
September 11, 20179 yr The Giants defense did well considering how much they were on the field. Agreed, but Zeke did get over 100 yards. The Giants D is good though.
