Harney is already committed to Bellarmine. The need to showcase her skills for the next level is over. SK is a very strong contender to get to the state tournament again, HC, not so much.

SK is a very tough program to walk into in the middle of the year. Their offense and defence is dependent upon reading the opposition. That can't be learned in a few weeks and that may have been a frustrating experience for her. In addition, SK plays a switching man to man defence that looks like a zone, but is not. Most kids come from zone defenses and find difficulty in the transition.

The bolded part is why I was so thrown off by her transferring to HC.

I think they do look into it, but I think some more than others. I think the number and type of flags that are thrown up bring more scrutiny than others. For example, if you move multiple times, huge flag. And we've some have to sit out or at least go to appeals processes to get eligible. I think the language is just so vague (on purpose to protect the kids that actually do need the exceptions), that it makes it too hard to govern the others.

I agree they look into it but how detailed do they get. Red flags to me is if its specifics schools all the time and it seems the same ones get mentioned.

This move does seem irrational.

I know it's hard for those who post on this thread to believe.. but everyone's life doesn't directly revolve around basketball. Some student atheletes transfer for various reasons out of their control.

But what clouds things is all of those that do move just for sports.

Amen!

The majority transfer because of sports don't kid yourself.

She must have had a pretty bad experience at SK to leave a loaded team almost locked into a state tournament appearance. On top of that she left to go pay tuition at a private school with little chance of getting to NKU.

Agree with most of what you said, but why do you feel HC has little chance of getting to NKU?

Maybe I am wrong...I am more unfamiliar with their team. I know they had a nice guard (who I think was a senior) and a very young and very large post player last year. Some decent kids around them....but I would be surprised if they were among to the top 2 or 3 in the 9th.

I think they could be. They have something that no other team in the 9th has...size! And I mean size!!! They also have good young guards and now Harney. There are some good teams in the 9th. Ryle, Conner, Cooper and Holmes are all going to be good, but I think HC can play with and beat any of them at any time. Their young kids are getting older and the youth mistakes that kept them from being dominate are starting to diminish.

However, I did hear rumors of some possible roster changes down there too. But all rumors at this point.

I will trust better judgement on HC roster and chances in the 9th. Ryle is loaded and Conner should be tough as well

Correct, but keep in mind that Ryle, Conner and Cooper are all in the same district. So come region time, you will only have to deal with 2 or the 3. Also, HC and Holmes are in the same district. So I would say the top 5 teams in the region will come from 2 districts.

That makes it hard to get out of district, but tougher on those other teams in region because in order to win it you almost certainly will have to beat both teams out of that loaded district.

I heard the HC center might be transfering.
