The Over/Under for the Dr. David Dao Damage Settlement

Featured Replies

I am setting the line at 20 Million.

Over or Under? Why?

Way over....I think he'll get that from United alone.

If it turns out all these news networks and organizations were smearing his name with inaccurate information? You can probably add another "0" to that number...

If I'm on that jury, no way he gets anywhere close to $20M.

I don't know. I haven't seen flopping, screaming and dramatics like that since the last soccer game I watched.

See also: Duke basketball.

I wouldn't give him anything if it were up to me. He would get what they offered him to leave originally.

This, if this dude was smeared with the criminal past of another guy with the same name...somebody is paying up.

This part of it alone could easily surpass $20M. The potential loss of earnings for a Dr because of that is huge.

How specifically was he damaged?

He had some physical injuries - we saw blood - but I'm sure they will be healed within a week. He may have some financial damages because he didn't see patients he was scheduled to see on Monday. He may have some reputational damage because of the way the incident was blasted throughout the media.

How much did he contribute to all of the above with his own behavior?

Remember, three other passengers left that flight without an incident. If conditions, protocol, etc were so terrible by United then why did three other people not have any issues?

The only way he gets anywhere near 20 million is through some sort of punitive damages and I am not sure there is a legal formula or provision that could leverage his damages close to 20 million.

I am going way way under on this. United might give him a million just to make it all go away.

I'm saying under. 7 figures for sure but not 20 million.

This thing never sees a jury. United will settle just to make the publicity go away and make him sign a confidentiality agreement so we may never actually know the amount.
