Was that experience huge last year in the playoffs for the 'Birds??? Cause what I remember is Highlands getting shut out at home in the quarterfinals. When was the last time Highlands was shut out at home in the playoffs????

 

 

Ouch :eek: Jbwil.... I was somewhat understanding your point and then you went and did that. You have no clue how :madman: Bird fans were last year when LexCath came up here and did that. Nice rebound with your last post but this is probably what set off the flamers from the Crunch man...

 

I don't think its that big of a deal to play a few top ranked teams to get that experience.... I just think you have to be smart about when you schedule them.

Come on Bluebirds, quit making excuses and blaming outside influences for the loss; you are better than that. I know other programs do it, but you need offer no excuses for your program; you are one of the top 3 programs in the state and you play an awesome schedule; you lower yourself to every other program that wants to blame a loss on everything else but "flat out getting beat"; you need no excuses; you have 16 State Titles!!!!!

If you watch the tape you'll understand. I'm not one to usually blame the refs and yes Highlands made mistakes, but many times I will criticise a call during a game only to come home watch the film and see that it was the right call. That's not the case this week.

Absolutely not, but it was certainly more of a contributing factor in this game than most.

 

As in most losses there are usually more than one reason for the loss. In this game I feel the refs were ONE reason for the loss.

Personally I love Highlands schedule as it. Sorry jb, while I am as proud as anyone including you, of the number of wins we have accumulated in our program, I like the idea of playing tougher competition than when I played. Is three "playing up" games too many? I don't think so, but reasonable minds can differ.

 

As to the refs, fact is that sometimes bad calls by refs can decide the game. Just ask Bob Stoops how he feels about that.

 

Did the refs cost Highlands the game? Who knows. In my opinion, they made some very poor calls as Henry mentioned. Then again, we made plenty of mistakes and still had the opportunity to win the game and simply failed to convert the opportunity.

 

We have things to work on. Am I going to post them on here? If you think I am, you should put down the medications and move away from the key board. I won't do that.

 

Fact of the matter is we've lost to 3 teams that are probably better than most, if not all, of the teams we will have to play through state and were very competitive against them all. Sure we lost them, and being competitive isn't what Highlands uses as a measuring stick. I am confident in this year's team and its coaches. We'll be just fine.

There are no moral victories but from what I heard about last year's game at DCMS it sounds like the Birds hung tough and had their chances against a team that literally manhandled them last year. Did this Columbus team lose many players from that squad? Was it a similar team as far as size and strength?

DCMS? I believe Desales returned only 3 starters from last years squad. Their O-line was better last year. I think their D was at about the same level. They upgraded at Reciever position one being nephew of Cris ( all I do is catch touchdowns) Carter. I still can't get over that onside kick after their safety, that was a gutsy play that worked out for Desales.
