Kentucky State Parks?

Featured Replies

If you're at Jenny Wiley and you're a golfer, don't miss Stonecrest.

We frequent Taylorsville Lake State park with our horses. It is convenient, we enjoy the trail riding, and the facilities are good.

Have had the food at Butler Lodge in Carrollton a lot -- never disappoints. Tons of food, solid quality, nice options...especially on Sundays and Holidays.

Do they have a buffet then?

What are some features you like of different KY State Parks?

Ever stay in a Lodge or Cottage at one?

Are Ohio, Indiana, Tenn parks as good as KY ones?

At one time Tennessee State Parks had some of the most reasonable rates on cabin rentals in the country. Some still are, but some have gone up.

One of our favorite destinations when the kids were little was Standing Stone State Park. Its just on the other side of the border, south of Dale Hollow.

If you're into piece and quiet, hiking, rest, and relaxation it's a great place.

You can still rent a cabin there for around $70 a night.

Last time I was there they had some sort of pork chop that was served with baked apples. It was outstanding.

There's nice state park in south central Tennessee that's called Fall Creek Falls. I was there for a wedding last summer. It has a lodge with 145 rooms, over 200 camp sites, golf, 30 rental cabins, etc. It's the largest and most visited state park in Tennessee, 26,000 acres. Located in the Cumberland Plateau it has several waterfalls, one which has a drop of 256 feet, the highest waterfall in the eastern United States. It also has a deep gorge that would make the Red River Gorge look small. Some really beautiful scenery in this park.

I did read today the KY will be closing 3 golf courses. I did not know the one at General Butler was already closed.

Carter Caves & Kincaid Lake are two of them.

I had not heard this. Really closing them? I wonder if a private company could have taken them over to keep them running? Damn shame.
