I am shocked....awesome game to both, especially the Tigers....

Congratulations.....great, great jog St. Xavier.

Kudos to St. Xavier frosh. You never know what's going to happen in this rivalry. Attendence was probably between 3000-3500 (adults $3.00 ea,). That will cover the costs of a few chinstraps, mouth pieces, knee and thigh pads......:dancingpa

Way to go Tigers!

By the way, do the schools split the frosh and JV gates?

Great Job St. X Bengle Tigers in your 13 - 7 win over the the Rocks...

Is there any question that both of these schools will have several Mr. Football candidates in the coming years? WOW!

Congrats to the Tigers. X came in ready to play and they made their scoring chances count. The Rocks got into the red-zone several times and couldn't score. Once again, congrats to the Tigers.

Did Trinity get into the red more than 2-3 times?

I'm saying yes. I remember twice in the first quarter. The Tigers played tough and the Rocks choked when the going got tough. Very disappointing.

I know T moved the ball well all games they just seemed to fizzle each drive.

Good job X. Fun game to watch. After not seeing a freshman game in a few years, you realize how green these kids are.

Liked St. X's safety, #21, and their linebacker, #31?. I thought those kids had good speed and were sure tacklers.

Loved Trinity's rb #3. Not sure of his name, but his running style is very, very similar to...Vic Anderson. Great leg drive and power.

Any update on the injured X player?

A few thoughts. First, congratulations to St X. Overall, I thought St X showed more speed, especially on defense. I was impressed by No 34 from X and No 3 from Trinity running the ball. I also thought that Holsclaw looked very good at QB for Trinity before he got hurt. I thought that the outcome of the game was determined by Trinity's inability to put it in the endzone when they got close (four trips to the red zone, one score) and St X cutting down on penalties in the second half. I thought that Trinity's no huddle gave X some real problems in the second half. Trinity was moving the ball very well on the ground and short passes with the no huddle. Late in the game, when time forced them to throw downfield, the potential winning drive stalled. Despite the loss, I thought there was much to be encouraged about. Both Trinity QBs threw the ball well. The receivers had a little trouble catching the ball, but that can be fixed over the next couple of years. Both squads showed great effort. Good job to all.

Yeah, they couldn't finish. finish may be the most popular word in sports.

Rp, who is the QB for T?

The QB I saw last night was Wes Jackson. He is from St. Patrick. I believe he was there QB for 2 Toy Bowl titles, 1 - 5th/6th grade and 1 - 7th/8th grade. Very good athlete.

I was impressed by the speed of the front 7 on X's defense. T had trouble getting to the corner. X's D stiffened up when T got close to scoring. Both teams evidently have some nice RB's who run hard. T's back(s) need to run with better vision and their receivers need to be a little more sure-handed. X's OL needs to concentrate on the snap count (better job in second half).

I hope I am not sounding too critical. I know these kids are really green. I also know that there is only so much the coaches can have put in up to this point.

All in all, a deserving win for St. X in a game that was as close as the score indicates.
