Open Job: Dixie Heights

No doubt that this will be an attractive job. I think the next person who takes over needs to be an offensive minded coach. No doubt Chevy had success playing a defensive and controlled offensive game but to be a contender in the 9th you have to be able to score.

I'll go ahead and prove my point so the "Cooper won the region and only scored 51 points" arguments can be put to rest. There has only been one team that averaged under 60 points per game during the season that has won the 9th region since 2005.

I'm not sure you have proven your point. Are you saying a team can't be defensive minded and still average over 60 points a game?

I am not sure what a team averages during the season matters all that much when it comes tournament time. For the most part, games are played at a much more deliberate pace and therefore defense tends to become a bigger factor IMO.

Further to my point, in the Regional, I believe that both Cooper and CCH scored almost 15 points below their season average and there was only one team in the tournament that scored more than 60 points in a single game.

How about Joe Fredrick? Seems like he would be a good option since he's been involved with Cov Cath.

Gotta think this is Roddy's job if he wants it. He's been on Chevy's staff for years, and he's a Dixie alumnus.

It would be a crime if Roddy wants the job and he's not given it. He's a great coach and the kids always love him.

I also think he's young enough for what Dixie needs, and that's to have a more energetic team.

Would he want to coach basketball AND softball?

When I was told about 5 or 6 weeks ago that Chevy was done, the name mentioned as his replacement was Roddy.

Would think its Roddy's for the taking if he wants it.

Some other names that come to mind are Sam Elsbernd and Chris Stapleton who are both looking for that first Varsity HC gig.

Does he go by Roddy? This is the first I have ever seen it.

With what Newport has coming back would Snapp want to leave Newport?

Roddy is a good guy.

Any chance Dixie goes outside the area looking to make a splash hire?

Also, some have said Dixie has some good pieces... as for the future, what are the good pieces?

Not sure but I think he'd choose basketball over softball.

Maybe not but I've known him a long time and he's always loved basketball, both playing and coaching.

I just can't see him having a bigger passion for softball.

Darn good question.

My guess is that he would hand the softball job over to Sarah.

I think Dixie is a job that will have coaches with head coaching experience applying. It will be tough to give the job to someone without head coaching experience.
