March 5, 20179 yr Beauty and the Beast? I will check the ratings first. If it's G or PG, we are good. PG-13, then I will have to read why it has the rating. One of my favorite Disney cartoons, so I am interested in the movie. Interesting point, will the film industry tag two gay persons kissing as at a G rating?
March 5, 20179 yr It's the TV show on Disney channel with the kissing. My kids don't watch that show. I don't think the men are kissing on the new Beauty and the Beast film.
March 5, 20179 yr My daughter and her husband are close friends with a gay couple. Two fantastic, true friends to my daughter. They're around my grandchildren often and they're wonderful with all three of the kids. Honestly, I've seen heterosexual couples doing things in public that these guys would never do. I'm talking lewd behavior and my grandchildren were able to see it. I'm wondering why I should be upset about the Disney kissing scene.

March 6, 20179 yr I have a problem with this, but not because it is gay people kissing. I have problem with it because it is further erosion of standards. Sex is pervasive in all our media and the standards keep dropping. Yes I turn the channel a lot. When I listen to radio in the car, especially in the morning, I constantly change channels. The talk is all crass. The songs are often over the top, basically telling young people in innuendo and code how to have sex. The same in TV and movies. Even commercials on TV are overrun by sex. It is just too much in my opinion. But, I don't like porn like some people do and those that like porn probably say I need to loosen up. Sorry, not going to happen. I am for freedom to do as you please in the privacy of your home. I don't want crap pushed at me though, and this falls in that category for me. What's the world coming to...this stuff needs to stop... Just what kind of message are they trying to send? It's all an agenda I tell ya. Look what they're pushing on us now.

I am not a fan of all the stuff you see heterosexuals doing on TV and movies. I think it all has gone over the top.
March 6, 20179 yr Personally, I,m much more concerned about graphic violence than this stuff. 1000% agree!!!
March 6, 20179 yr Personally, I,m much more concerned about graphic violence than this stuff. Amen to that brother. Once I was on a long flight to England where every seat came with a private video screen to watch movies. Sitting directly in front of me was a man and woman, and their 3 year old daughter. The child was sitting right next to daddy and was fussy the entire time (annoying yes, but not terribly unusual for a kid of that age). Pretty much ruined any chance of catching a wink, and then at the end of the flight she finally did fall asleep and fussed and whined about waking to get off the plane. I could see through the seat that the whole flight dad watched one machine gun fight movie after the other. Scene after scene of guns guns guns death death death violence violence violence. I can't say for sure that this is what kept the child in an irritable mood, but it certainly would make one wonder. If I had a kid the last thing that I'm doing is sitting next to them for 8 hours watching heads being blown off one by one. The whole tough guy action/murder/war/guns/violence movies seem for some to be like a right of passage into manhood. Almost like Dad's cool with his little Johnny being schooled in the whole butt kicking genre to toughen him up. But how dare a movie depict the true reality of same sex love when just about 99 percent of every movie ever made freely depicts straight relationships? Gay relationships are real and exist all around us. We as a culture can either continue to try to pass the notion that it's wrong and keep it in hiding, or face the reality of it and embrace it as one true facet of humanity. If there's an agenda at all it's to once and for all finally to start getting real. I didn't grow up with gay movies, so how did I turn out to be gay? No matter how many hundreds of straight movies I've seen in my life, I was going to be gay anyhow. If you really want to get real there's more gay relationships in this world than people running around with machine guns shooting people up, yet we're cool with one violent murder movie after the other. Gayness is real, always has been, always will be, it's not going anywhere so might as well get used to it, and maybe even try to start to understand it rather than letting misguided information continue to forever control your thinking about it. I shudder to think how many perfectly decent teen kids over the years have committed suicide because of the fear and abandonment they felt knowing that they were gay in a unaccepting mean spirited hateful society, and didn't know how they were going to handle negative reaction from family and friends, and could no longer handle the suffocation in their what feels like an eternal closet. It's hard for kids to process that time will pass and they'll be able to get on with their lives no matter how ignorant their parents are, but even still it'll play heavy on their hearts that their parents will never understand and accept them. So why not open this reality up in movies where we can start changing that negative image in society into a more accepting positive one where the world begins to come around to understanding it rather that stay misinformed and fearful, and perpetrating unfounded and unnecessary hatred? Over the last few years I've given plenty of things for @mountain ref to ponder outside of whatever he's been exposed to, or lack there of to intelligently reconsider the negative attitude he has toward the topic, yet no matter what he's only happy when he can remain negative about it. What's up with that? He's been right on the edge of understanding numerous times, yet that lifetime fixed notion he has will overrule any and all new logical information that he's been exposed to, yet he'll speak with so called authority on a matter where he stands only to continue to perpetrate misinformation, and hatred, and disgust towards millions of his fellow men and women who have no other agenda than to live happy loving lives being true to themselves. Dude, if any of your kids do turn out to be gay it's because they naturally are, and it won't be because they saw a same sex kiss in a cartoon. If you really loved and cared about them you would better serve their lives by trying to understand them rather than condemn them. Being how you are I sincerely hope that none of them are, but if they are and unless you get a grip, you're going to make your kid miserable if Dad can't bring himself to get over his obsession with staying negative. Your kid is more important than your fascination with feeling morally superior to others when you're painfully not.
March 6, 20179 yr TL; DR You're hip enough to already be on board with what I said. Others might benefit from hearing things from a different informed perspective.
March 7, 20179 yr Author You're hip enough to already be on board with what I said. Others might benefit from hearing things from a different informed perspective. I'm not running from you or hiding. But like I think I have said before, I respect what you think and I'm proud you stand up for, what you believe. You have definitely given me plenty to think about and ponder on and I appreciate that. While I still think I'm right, I'm not above being proven wrong either. But there is now way to prove either of us right or wrong IMO. I still feel doing the homosexual scenes or innuendo stuff in kids cartoons or movies is wrong.
March 7, 20179 yr A kids show or movie should have to subject them to immortals and stuff. It's an agenda. Do you mean like Highlander? They weren't actually true immortals. You could kill them if you cut their heads off with a sword. There can be only ONE!!!
March 7, 20179 yr Whenever Christians cite biblically based values the secular world always blames Christians. We are only the messengers. Why not just stand up for what you really believe? Lets face it, don't you really just believe that the Bible is not the word of God, the God of the Bible does not exist, government is your God, and right and wrong is determined by the opinion of the majority? March 7, 20179 yr Whenever Christians cite biblically based values the secular world always blames Christians. We are only the messengers. Why not just stand up for what you really believe? Lets face it, don't you really just believe that the Bible is not the word of God, the God of the Bible does not exist, government is your God, and right and wrong is determined by the opinion of the majority? Humans are terribly limited in knowing the ultimate truth. In fact, humans know nothing at all for certain. If there is a god we have no way of knowing. What we do know for sure is that the concept of a god has been created by humans as an explanation for what we cannot, or do not yet know for certain. For many that concept is adequate though all we're certain of about it is that it has been passed along by humans who've no way of knowing for certain. For the scientifically inclined, man created religion just logically isn't enough evidence of anything concrete to be a for certain explanation, and especially when religious concepts obviously have humans' hands written all over it, and scientific exploration is an effort to more better concretely understand the unknown. Can science know all? Probably not and likely not, but at least it's making efforts to answer questions whereas religion claims to have the answers when it has no possible way of doing so, and settles with satisfaction that what it passes along as the truth is indeed the indisputable truth when it can't possibly know for sure, and its devout followers blindly believe with no proof, and often feel anger when what they believe is contested with questions and attempts at logical explanations. And while religion can't know, but still confirms to, it also attaches to it moral rules and guidelines for humans to live by with obvious man-made conceptual consequential repercussions if not adhered to. This is certainly fine if people are satisfied with religion's explanation and find it to be adequate enough, as science is limited as well, and most humans don't feel that ultimate truth can possibly be answered in their lifetime by science, so it's better to hang your hat on something during your lifetime than have to live one's entire life facing the absurdity of existing with no true understanding of how or why. There's no doubt that it's painfully frustrating for anyone to ponder too deeply our existence with no concrete answers, and since most would rather not for fear of going crazy, many will often just settle with religion's explanation because it seems suitable enough for one to quit pondering and just believe and follow something. That's all well and good, but the inadequacy of man-made religious concepts become painfully exposed when it defies reality and tries to place supreme answers on common human conditions that it has obviously missed the mark on showing without doubt that these are nothing more that human concepts. In answer to your questions: A. All that I know for certain about the Bible is that it is man-made. B. If god does exist I've yet to know for certain through my human limitations, and at best, don't know if there's even a way for certain for me to know. This is no denial of a god, yet it is no affirmation of one either. C. Government is not my god and neither is anything else. My own existence and the reality of it is the best I can muster when it comes to understanding what truth about myself that I can possibly know. When I at least am for certain that things about truth and reality don't coincide with religious teachings, it's more evidence to me that religion is nothing more than man-made concepts. When religious fallacies become evident it tends to lead to a weakening of religion as a whole as being a valid supreme explanation of truth. When holes can obviously be shot through it, then it becomes painfully obvious that humans have attached the supreme moniker to it, when it is nothing more than concepts created by man. Is man correct about its assessment that it tries to explain through its religious concepts? It could be, but we have no way of knowing for sure, and the chances that man is correct seems rather astronomical for human concept be able to come up with the for certain ultimate truth. Personally I'm living in the now, and I don't have time for science or religion to answer the questions about my life that I myself am as capable of, if not more so than they are to answer for myself. I'm aware of my reality. I'm also aware that my reality is not terribly unusual and that millions of others have a very similar reality which only stands to strengthen my own self awareness and understanding that my reality is one common facet of the human condition, and nothing that I can or should conclude as anything that requires of myself any self guilt, or ideas that I need to be corrected, or that I need to abstain from my nature, and certainly not because of the misinformation and misunderstandings of others in society, or man-made religious concepts.
