Even I would be against a ban.... But get a grip folks... It's a temporary ban. Just to get a handle on thing some that have gotten out of control.

 

I will put some of this on Trump - actually a good part of it on Trump because of poor implementation. Didn't he realize that fully vetted people who are legal, productive members of American society would be impacted by his plan? Did he fully investigate and consider the impact of what he planned to do? Yes, it is a safety issue. Did Trump have any reason to believe the people coming into the US were not vetted and/or legal? Why did he feel the need to rush this ban into place?

 

I agree with you, and I think nearly everyone will agree, that it is good to fully vet refugees before they come in. If he handled it right, I don't think we would see nearly the uproar that his haphazard rushed ban has caused.

Over the last 48 or so hours its obvious things are not yet even close to start 'healing'. That is at a broad level - not just here. Here on BGP its probably better than most social water cooler communities. Family members at each throats on FB, People blowing up a single mis-statement for days and days. Even yesterday, trying to just watch some sports - Fox felt the need run Bill O'Really and Trump interview when the schedule said football. So I flip it over to the NFL Network to escape that and find a segment about Putin getting a SB ring. So then I flip to the recorded NFL awards on DVR and get hear about 'rich Republicans..' in the open monologue. Its almost inescapable.

 

Can't everyone take a deep breath. Let it go and .... move on? (I think I remember a website with that name....never mind!).

I disagree, VOR. The strategy that the left appears to be using is to vehemently oppose almost everything President Trump does. At least, that's what I've observed so far.

True, but the BGP people dont make the news on condemning her. Its the DEM leaders that should be condemning her and they are not. Then those so called others go out and take it to another level of idiocy. When the members of the DEM Party start denouncing their own for stuff like this and the stuff like the Calif lawmaker said about it being OK for illegals to come obtain taxpayer-paid benefits, then there is a chance to come together, but they wont and there wont be.

It would be pretty time consuming to read every thread and confirm or denounce the topic discussed. Just don't assume that we feel a certain way, even if people don't respond. Sometimes I just don't want to get caught up in fifteen replies. Maybe even make a poll (with an "other" option?

Well when the lines are so drawn and they certainly are, instance Hillary Clinton who was a even worse overall candidate than Trump, its hard to think the Democrats or left of center posters would even consider saying something the left said was wrong. I guess the silence is deafening to quote one of my leftist foes on here so to speak. We all assume things about each other thats probably not right. Its like reading a text wrong. Very easy to do.

I know it's hard to fathom...But some of us leftists work, and some of us also have other obligations and activities that further take time away from BGP. Here's my criteria these days:.
