First. A simple truth: Trump is the President.. Lots of folks on the left won't even accept that.. Another truth.... I can't disagree with an issue without being called names or deemed uneducated... Hard to have any meaningful debate if one side is not open to it...

I find it funny that you and others believe that the right has nothing to do with the divide, and has always been open to debate

Jesse, you're the guy who shoves and runs his jaw all game, but at the end IF his team wins wants to shake hands and talk about how great a game it was.

I give it just like I get it Hellcats. Now I am going to try to leave all that stuff alone and try to do better. I am going to ignore some posts. I meant this for both sides, and thats my fault for not making it clear. I love talking trash, but I am going to do my best to really listen to what you guys say. Its a start, now if you all dont want to play by the very rules you are hammering me and the others about, then we can return to the same ole same ole. But I am going to try to do better.

Hellcats I dont want to put words in his mouth but I think he sees whats going on with all the #notmypresident stuff and all the protests saying to resist, and these very things are being said by Chuck Schumer, and it does not look good. So we all need to change this, or the divide will get farther apart.

Sounds promising. I look forward to a more diplomatic Jesse.

Hellcats I am serious. The more diplomatic me is how I really am in real life. Anyone that knows me personally can attest to that. Im not a die hard Trumper for life. I did however and I take full responsibility for coming across that way and regardless of why I did it, I should not have been so harsh, but I am not going to lie, a few on here drove me to defend Trump and to a point even vote for him. I was open to a third party and some were so anti Trump, he is a joke, he cant win, blah blah blah, I just got tired of it to the point I became a advocate of Trump. I dont like some things he does or says, but I do agree with alot of what he says. Now he is the president. The left and I am not meaning anyone on here, needs to stop with the division they preach we need so bad and quit with the stuff thats causing division, like violent protests etc and #trumpisnotmypresident . Thats doing nothing to help either you nor me. Its hurting us as a country. We can try to stop it now and become one or we can continue to deepen the division and eventually destroy our country from within. Its all on us.

Here's my question. Why attack and treat those of us on BGP badly when we haven't said the things that upset you? It's like you were angry at us, just because we don't agree with you. And I get what you say about why you defended President Trump. As I mentioned before, I voted for Mrs. Clinton largely because it would tick you guys off. I had no hope of a candidate that would represent my interests in this election.

In a sense I agree, but disagreement on issues does not mean our country will split apart. Both sides need to focus on the issue. Take the recent Travel Ban: one side claims it's necessary for better vetting. In the arguments of what the Ban is called and who it's happening too, few have asked what better vetting means. Both sides are guilty of ignoring the real issue and trusting the administration or automatically distrusting the administration.

Here's my question. Why attack and treat those of us on BGP badly when we haven't said the things that upset you?

Simple. He wanted to gloat. And he can't do that in "real life," so he does it here.

I never meant to treat you badly. I have thick skin and sometimes I forget others dont. I will say this and I am not putting blame on anyone in particular, you guys dished it out to the point of ridiculing those of us that are on the right. I guess I would say to you and anyone else I offended that I am sorry. But again I willing to look in the mirror at myself. Let just hope everyone else is if we expect both sides to get along.

I can gloat in real life ask some of my liberal friends. This is an example of what I am talking about from the left. See above post. This is what I am trying to avoid. Dont say you want to get along and post this stuff. At least own it as PP92 would say. I can at least respect that.

Its good to disagree. I love it. Ask my wife. :) I disagreed with Obama on lots of issues, agreed with him on alot too. But I never once said he was not my president nor acted like whats going on now. I never even started posting on this political forum very much until this last election. But to act like whats going on now is even ok is not in my personal opinion whats best for the country. And if Hillary had won and the right would have done this I would have said they/we need to stop. I posted the poll on who agrees with the protesters and what they are doing now. Go look at who voted. Tell me what you see.

It is what it is. Someone quickly pointed out what they considered a divisive statement from mtnref, but largely ignored several obvious ones from others. Nothing is going to change here and it definitely isn't going to change outside of here.

The left and right have always disagreed, but I've never witnessed a party and its followers be so whiney after an election. From the non sense like senators crying after an executive order to celebrities making stupid comments and videos urging republican electors not to vote from trump. Not to mention the "protests" that involve people making crazy statements, many of which turn violent.

It's crazy and makes one side look like very sore losers. And what a lot of those participanting in these things clearly don't understand is, they are making more people want to vote for the other side.

Are you interested in lessening the divide or widening it?

I quoted both posts, as I was the "someone" who questioned mountain ref and (by your perception) ignored others. I asked ref a question, he answered and I take him at his word. Same for All Tell. I am taking a cue from one of the original posters in this thread (maybe VOR) who suggested asking questions instead of assuming we know what others think and what their intent is. No, I didn't question everyone. If I feel that I knew what they meant, there was no need for me to question them.

I used to love this forum as a place where I was challenged to explore multiple sides of an issue. I'd love for it to return to that place, but it can't, with all of the juvenile name calling and categorizing of "sides" that occurs. When we insult someone in that way, we have pretty much eliminated any chance of them listening to us.

For my part, I welcome posters asking me my intent, if they don't understand. I'd also appreciate them letting me know if I am saying something that they see as divisive. It likely wasn't my intent, but if I don't knew that some took it that way, how could I ever correct it?

How about you? Do you want to see the divide lessened?

Look, I'm 100℅ willing to move forward. But you have to understand, not wantng to deal with insults and condescension is not being thin skinned. I could indulge in name calling and hyperbole on any number of other forums. I prefer and enjoy lively, respectful and civil discussion though. Real ideas and real points to consider are shared that way.

I posted why I didn't vote in the poll. You put many of us in a catch22 in the way you worded the choices.
