I would love to see it lessened but not at the cost of my core beliefs.

 

Let's talk a hot button issue. I do not believe that abortion should be illegal. I do believe that it should be rare and highly regulated with all alternatives presented to the woman and a cooling off period after being presented with the information, including a fetal ultrasound. I an adamantly opposed to minors being able to have an abortion on demand without consent and I refuse to endorse funding for Planned Parenthood as long as they provide abortions and refuse to report underage girls who seek abortion to law enforcement as victims of statutory rape. Because of that there are people on the left that would call me a woman hater who wants to enslave a woman's vagina.

 

Both sides have dug in their heels. When Obama was elected how many times did he say elections have consequences? He ran as a unifier but what did he actually do to try to unify people?

Well, it didn't take long for this thread to go off the rails.

 

It is what it is. Someone quickly pointed out what they considered a divisive statement from mtnref, but largely ignored several obvious ones from others. Nothing is going to change here and it definitely isn't going to change outside of here.

 

The left and right have always disagreed, but I've never witnessed a party and its followers be so whiney after an election. From the non sense like senators crying after an executive order to celebrities making stupid comments and videos urging republican electors not to vote from trump. Not to mention the "protests" that involve people making crazy statements, many of which turn violent.

 

It's crazy and makes one side look like very sore losers. And what a lot of those participanting in these things clearly don't understand is, they are making more people want to vote for the other side.

I have listened and will continue to listen to everybody, including those with different opinions, as long as they can hold a conversation like an adult. Some here struggle greatly with that.

I am Pro-Choice and agree with pretty much everything you've said here. I don't think we can say it should be rare, there's no way to say how often it should happen, IMO.

First. A simple truth: Trump is the President.. Lots of folks on the left won't even accept that.. Another truth.... I can't disagree with an issue without being called names or deemed uneducated... Hard to have any meaningful debate if one side is not open to it...

Can you point out who here on the left on BGP hasn't accepted the fact that trump is President?

 

How you are deemed, IMO, depends on how you disagree with an issue. There's a way to go about it. People disagree with me all the time on here, not just on politics, and it has absolutely no effect on how I view them.
