So where did I comment on what I thought about this story of refugees? My thoughts were regarding Trump's lack of diplomacy and the world view of him.

 

Butt hurt...such a cute repetitive catch phrase from the right to go along with the Play-dogh narrative and all the rest of the unimaginative shallow gestures.

Very sad story of separation, suicide, alcoholism, drug abuse, terror of being torn from your parents arms, 4 year old would remember parents and spent years searching for them. All for assimilation? Tragic program the Australian government now agrees was wrong, with no way forward to correct the wrong. But small successes can become big victories.

What did you think this thread was about? The issue is Trump's dealings with the Australian PM over 1250 refugees. It wasn't just a random phone call. You don't know how the call went. Trump could have said he wasn't going to take the refugees and Turnbull could have gotten nasty with him. I wasn't there, so I don't know how it went. Neither do you.

Turnbull may be butt hurt (oops, that's the right in me) because he can't pass the refugees to us now. Maybe that caused the sour conversation.

 

More than anything I'll assume that the thread was began to demonstrate Trump's lack of diplomacy, and that's what I was commenting on.

It's not a reach to think that he was potentially undiplomatic.

 

I do think it's a major reach to take what the Washington Post said and assumed that's exactly how the conversation went. I very well could see Trump saying that we weren't taking the refugees and the call getting extremely sour on the Aussie's end very quickly which escalated emotions on both sides. But it doesn't fit the Washington Posts' narrative to discuss everything that occurred on the call.

 

But then again, maybe the unknown senior US official didn't tell them everything. I grow tired of the unnamed "Senior US Official".
