No 'G'day, mate': On call with Australian prime minister, Trump badgers and brags

What a freaking train wreck.

No ‘G’day, mate’: On call with Australian prime minister, Trump badgers and brags - The Washington Post

Instead, President Trump blasted Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull over a refugee agreement and boasted about the magnitude of his electoral college win, according to senior U.S. officials briefed on the Saturday exchange. Then, 25 minutes into what was expected to be an hour-long call, Trump abruptly ended it.

At one point, Trump informed Turnbull that he had spoken with four other world leaders that day — including Russian President Vladimir Putin — and that “this was the worst call by far.”

We're going to stick it to China! (By withdrawing from the TPP and ticking off our Pacific allies.)

I fully realize and understand that not all calls and interactions with other world leaders are going to be pleasant. However, this seems unwarranted and just dumb on the POTUS part...

Exactly. There is absolutely nothing to gain from this. He'll be invading Canada next.

Not saying it didn't happen, but I'm be curious to know who all of the U.S. Officials are that are always quoted lol.

I'm sure the call turned a little hostile when Trump said he wasn't going to follow through on a "dumb deal" that Obama had agreed to. Either way, he needs to have more tact, something that isn't news to anyone.

I agree with this. I am not sure why the current President should have to do what the former President decided to do.

Tact is not a trait Trump has and will definitely need to develop. A person can have tact and still tell people what they don't want to hear.

I can't open the link for some reason. I'm curious, how is the Post privy to that conversation and it's detail? Does it say in the article?

Of course not.

Being the face of our nation, such a nice impression this man leaves of the United States to the rest of the world, but the sad reality is that his undiplomatic ignorance truly does represent about half of its electorate, so though it's an embarrassment to many of us, the rest of world actually is indeed getting a true gobsmacking look at just how abundant ignorance runs rampant throughout America.

A big thanks is in order to all of his supporters for having the foresight and sound minded wisdom to see him as a fit leader who's not just content with keeping only our foes at odds with us, but our allies too.

Good job, and such a commendable rational and peaceful mentality. :thumb:

 I agree. The ignorance is rampant.

Nope. But Trump doesn't really dispute it and neither does Turnbull. Trump did have this to say:

Donald J. Trump ‏@realDonaldTrump

Do you believe it? The Obama Administration agreed to take thousands of illegal immigrants from Australia. Why? I will study this dumb deal!

I'm not disputing any of this obviously, but I don't think you'll see any glowing presidential review from the Post considering how Trump blasted the media. (of which I was a fan, not because it was him, but because it needed said)

 I agree. The ignorance is rampant.

Though it probably means very little to you, take a wild guess how the vast majority of the world leans in its perception of ignorance while it shakes its collective head in disbelief at the poor decision that the citizens of the United States have made in freely selecting its leader?

So, you've polled the entire world? You do get around.

It's like the "best point guard in the state". Love those.

I want to invade Australia. Where do I sign up?
