Andy Dalton to Pro Bowl

Featured Replies

I just heard it reported on the radio that Andy Dalton is now replacing Tom Brady in the Pro Bowl.

I like Andy, but a 6-9-1 team's QB in the Pro-Bowl. I used to love to watch the Pro Bowl back in the seventies but its a joke now.

I have not looked closely at the numbers personally, but I have seen and heard people commenting that Andy had a better year this year statistically than he did last year despite the team's record.

I try not make much of it. Each league has 15 teams. 1 QB is eliminated playing in the Superbowl, normally 2-3 suffered a season-ending injury (Derek Carr), some are just banged up and do not want to play, and the other teams are a revolving door of QBs. By season's end the selection pool is maybe 6 or 7 QBs. It is why Vince Young made it twice and David Garrard.

Yeah, I get that. The game just doesn't interest me like it did a forty years ago.

Wow, did I really say that. Hard to believe.

Well, when Hellbird this news, I am sure he did not survive...

RIP Hellbird...

He'll probably throw for 3 touchdowns.

He threw for more yards this year. If he played the last 4 games last year, then he would have thrown for more last year. Last year he threw more 10 more tds in 12 games than he did in 16 games this year when he only threw 18 tds all year this year. Last year his qb rating was over 112, this year it was below 90.

The main thing he did better this year was his career low in interceptions. Which is good, but also shows he didn't really take to many chances this year, which also prevents big plays from happening. When you have a qb who is too cautious then you also aren't as productive either. You then have Trent Dilfer. Which is probably why Marvin said this was Daltons best year yet, because Marvin loves the conservative approach. Which that conservative approach is also why they probably never win big games and rarely beat good teams.

He'll probably throw for 3 touchdowns.

He looked absolutely horrible in his last pro bowl. It was actually his last pro bowl for when I started to turn on him. You saw all those other qbs look great and throw great passes to receivers they barely had reps with. Then Dalton came in and looked horrible and kept missing open receivers. It was at that point when I realized we almost need to be perfect in every area for us to have a chance with him at qb to win a super bowl. Maybe this pro bowl will get me to believe in him again, since the last one was when I stopped defending him after seeing the big difference between him and top qbs.

Good for the new daddy to be again. He also just paid off 73 hospital bills for struggling families. The guy is all class and a darn good QB.

I would never ever put any stock in anything that happens in a Pro Bowl.

After the Eifert debacle last year, I am not sure if I was the Bengals I would let any player play in this game. The game is a waste of time.

I usually dont. But considering it is built for offenses since defenses go half speed and don't rush or blitz the qb, or put hits on guys. Then when every other qb looks great in it, and then Dalton goes in and looks lost and can't hit open guys. It was very telling to me to exactly how good he is.

Agreed.
