Then when every other qb looks great in it, and then Dalton goes in and looks lost and can't hit open guys. It was very telling to me to exactly how good he is. What if the Bengals in the Pro Bowl get 7 sacks this year. Would you be all pumped up that they dominated the best OLs from the NFC and expect them to have a monster year next year? I sure wouldn't. Same as if Dalton throws for 5 TDs and 300 yards. Meaningless.

Meaningless. It's about how he looked. Plenty of time, guys wide open and completely missing them. While every single other qb looked great throwing to the same guys. It showed what a big drop off it was. Other qbs have no problem completing basic passes to guys they don't have much work with, while he looked like a high school qb in the same game. The pro bowl with how it's played is set up for qbs to do great, and he looked horrible. People bowl means nothing, but that is how bad he looked.
January 25, 20179 yr I have not looked closely at the numbers personally, but I have seen and heard people commenting that Andy had a better year this year statistically than he did last year despite the team's record.Nope, this year was worse than last year statistically. The only thing he had more of this year was yards passing because they were playing behind all the time. HE had less TD's and more INT's this year than last year and his rating was lower also this year compared to last year.
January 25, 20179 yr He threw for more yards this year. If he played the last 4 games last year, then he would have thrown for more last year. Last year he threw more 10 more tds in 12 games than he did in 16 games this year when he only threw 18 tds all year this year. Last year his qb rating was over 112, this year it was below 90. The main thing he did better this year was his career low in interceptions. Which is good, but also shows he didn't really take to many chances this year, which also prevents big plays from happening. When you have a qb who is too cautious then you also aren't as productive either. You then have Trent Dilfer. Which is probably why Marvin said this was Daltons best year yet, because Marvin loves the conservative approach. Which that conservative approach is also why they probably never win big games and rarely beat good teams. He had more INT's this year than last year.

Each league has 15 teams. 1 QB is eliminated playing in the Superbowl, normally 2-3 suffered a season-ending injury (Derek Carr), some are just banged up and do not want to play, and the other teams are a revolving door of QBs. By season's end the selection pool is maybe 6 or 7 QBs. It is why Vince Young made it twice and David Garrard. Only 1 of the 6 QBs invited have accepted an invitation or are able to play for health reasons. So now we are down to QBs 7-11. Easy to see where guys like Dalton get a shot. I just find it silly that people use the "Pro Bowl" as a valid measuring tool for how good or bad a player is. All Pro, ok. The NFL has extended 125 invitations now for Pro Bowl slots. That is the second most all time to last year.

I just find it silly that people use the "Pro Bowl" as a valid measuring tool for how good or bad a player is. All Pro, ok. The NFL has extended 125 invitations now for Pro Bowl slots. That is the second most all time to last year. Honestly, Id rather see some back up qbs get a chance to play.
