September 15, 200620 yr Look, there is no special clause in the rules that state that playing half a season of college ball equals six months off the are requirement. He would have a much better shot with arguing that his ORIGINAL high school class graduated more than a year before the draft. Going to KSU does nothing on the age requirement. I know that, but both things are him just trying to get around the rules. Im not saying that both will work or that they should but Im saying that he will try to use them to get around the rules. He doesnt care what the rule is, he and his crew are gonna try everything they can think of to try an get around it. I agree with you on that he has a much better shot at using the original high school class argument.
September 16, 200620 yr This kid has been used as a pawn by his advisors and that is the truly sad thing about all of this and the one point most people overlook or tend to ignore.
October 24, 200619 yr From the Enquier blog: ESPN’s Andy Katz reports that former North College Hill star Bill Walker has earned a qualifying test score and his paperwork is with the NCAA Clearinghouse. If he is cleared, he’s expected to play basketball for Kansas State in the spring semester. Walker is ineligible to play his final season of high school ball and is trying to graduate early.

Interesting and the Clearinghouse, is a two Phase process which does take time. I hope this young man, gets to play and continues his education pursuits, while playing college basketball.
October 26, 200619 yr Class 2007 Top 100 forward Bill Walker of Cincinnati-North College Hill, Ohio, has been admitted early to Kansas State, but has not yet enrolled in classes, according to the Kansas City Star. Walker was approved by the NCAA, but while he can be enrolled in the school's fall semester that recently began, he cannot be part of the basketball program until next semester. Walker was ruled athletically ineligible by the Ohio State High School Activities Association this summer because he had exhausted his high school eligibility by playing four years, starting as an eighth grader. Instead of choosing to sit out a year, Walker took accelerated classes to graduate from high school early in his senior year. The Wildcats also received a commitment from Class 2007 guard/forward Dominique Sutton of Durham-Patterson School, NC. link
October 26, 200619 yr But if he just dropped in in December, with no team practice, Huggy wouldn't play him. It would be stupid to try to. Huggy would play him right away. He can start for them right now.
October 26, 200619 yr I really think it would be a bad idea for Huggy's team. I know Walker is a great talent, but it would mess up chemistry (and not just for this year) create a (greater) sense of entitlement for Walker, and not help to win games IMO. No offensive or defensive practice at all and you throw Walker in? It would just be a bad move. Now, MAYBE by the Big XII tourny he can play more than a few minutes a game, but before then you are asking for trouble. Have you seen K State play? Walker would be a welcome addition to there team.
October 26, 200619 yr I understand that but its just another way to try an tweak the rules, and playing a half a season or whatever of college ball is another way of him trying to get around the rules. I think the Ohio court system helped him "get around the rules". I'm pretty sure he's going to be in the next draft.
October 26, 200619 yr Author So I take it he cannot play ball until the spring semester starts at K-State? The Kennesaw State ticket has never been hotter in Manhattan, Kan. That's right, the Kansas State-Kennesaw State game on Dec. 17 (part of the Las Vegas Classic) is now looking like the debut of Bill Walker, one of the top players in the high school class of 2007. Well, Walker is now a late member of the class of 2006 since he is on his way to graduating from North College Hill High in Ohio. Kansas State officials confirmed he has been admitted to the university and ESPN.com has learned that Walker was waved through at the NCAA Clearinghouse, too. A source close to Kansas State told ESPN.com that the Wildcats will sign Walker on Nov. 8 (the first day of the early-signing period) so they can officially talk about him and deal with his entrance to the school. The Wildcats have a scholarship available for this season, but can't put him on one until the start of the next semester. Walker likely won't be on campus before December, since he can't practice until he's in school.

Does K-State have a winter session over Christmas break that he would be enrolled in? If not, the way that reads is that he really couldn't be eligible to play until the spring semester starts.

November 3, 200619 yr Author Basketball player Bill Walker has signed a financial aid agreement with Kansas State, the university said today. That means Walker can start practicing with the Wildcats on Dec. 16, and his first game could be the following day against Kennesaw State. Walker won’t need to sign a letter of intent; the agreement covers financial aid and scholarship. He can attend class and work out on his own until Dec. 16. Walker, a 6-6 small forward was ranked the No. 6-ranked player in the nation in the 2007 class, according to Rivals.com. http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/news/breaking_news/15922845.htm There you have it...
November 4, 200619 yr I know one thing for sure - KState, North Carolina, Florida, and Indiana are going to be a load to deal with in the next few years.
November 4, 200619 yr So is "The Professor" I will have to think about this. Maybe Huggy-bear.
