Eating Out 2017

Featured Replies

Ate at a fantastic place on the pacific last night called the Strand House. Afterwards went to a local bar and had a few drinks. When we got the tab, we tallied 90 beers. I'm not going to tell you how many were there.

Meeting some friends and eating at Hilton then going to Rupp for the game

Went to the Grandview Tavern with Mrs. C1 and enjoyed a Kentucky GLT ( goetta, fried egg, mater, and lettuce ) sandwich with fries. She had a goat cheese spinach salad. Add a couple iced teas and bill came to $30 before tip.

All were very good...:thumb:

Went to Toney's after the UK alumni game. Sampled several things: their FF are huge wedges of potatoes with truffle oil, very good. Crab cakes were huge and large chunks of crab and little filler also very good. Prim Rib sliders were tender but a bit over cooked for my taste. We all had a great time.

For some reason, I've been on an O-ring binge for the last week or so. Probably had them 3-4 times.

USF watch party at Capogna's Dugout in Clearwater, Saturday night. We had o-rings, naked wings, pizza, and Yuengling on tap. Lots of Yuengling, as a matter of fact. Thank God Mrs. S didn't drink. My daughter had Big Al's Salad. One of my favorite restaurants.

So we had a Groupon to Teak that expired the end of the month. got home early from Charlotte so decided to use it. Wrong. Sign on the door says they closed for good August 22. Funny part of the story, someone had just told the Mrs that it was horrible last time they were there.

Had a drink across the street. And listened to an acoustical dude jamming. Since Thai was on our mind we went to OTR and hit up Kaze. Very good. Did a Raman soup and shared some rolls.

We stayed at my Mother-in-Law's over this past weekend due to being up in Dayton for a wedding I was in. Sunday morning they took us to a small Mom & Pop cafe up in the Pleasant Plain, OH area, the Plain Folk Cafe, for breakfast. It's located in an old schoolhouse. It was really good. Love those kinds of places. Exactly what was needed to cure my hangover. :lol2:

Fazoli's lunch special. Lasagna, salad, breadsticks and drink. $5.00.

Dragon Village in Buckeye Lake,Ohio

General Tso Combo platter (7.95) Chicken was bland. There was way more rice than Chicken. The rice had a lot of flavor.

Speedway Lore City, Ohio Had two sandwiches that were just set out. Cheese Burger, and A (1/2)Mcrib type. (2.50)

McDonald's Buckeye Lake, Ohio McDouble and A Big Mac(Had a free coupon for the Big Mac. (1.45)

Went to Swampwater Grill with the family last night. Had the blackened swamp platter with mahi-mahi, sides were corn roasted cheese grits and jambalaya. Delicious!

The Boss and I went to Otto's in Covington on Main Street this Sunday early afternoon.

Both of us chose the Crab Hash: Lump Crab, Potato hash topped with a poached egg and spicy sour cream sauce. The Boss had bacon with hers and I had the Potato Cake.

We have eaten both off the Brunch and Dinner menus more than a few times and have yet to have a bad meal or poor service. Quality of the food and service has always been top notch and yes it can be a bit more expensive than some but I would much rather pay a bit more and have a great meal and treated well, then go someplace to save a buck or two and eat crap and get treated like such.

If you go, make a reservation as the place is always busy.
