Eating Out 2017

Featured Replies

The Boss and I just came back Otto's in Mainstrasse Covington for our annual between Birthday's celebration and while it wasn't cheap, WOW was it good. Have to say, other than the Local Ocean in Newport Or. it was the best place we have eaten in awhile. Great service, nice atmosphere, casual dress, non prestigious dining, and the food was outstanding. Thank you Otto's, for a great evening out.

Been wanting to try that place at some point. What did you have?

Continuing our between birthday celebration, we went to Braxton Brewery where Graeters and Braxton are serving Beer Floats. After having a Beer or two, we tried a Float. Of course since my youngest Brother-in-Law works for Graeters and I gave Chip Graeter and other Graeters employees a bunch of Dirty on my Brother-in-law, we did receive rather larger scoops of Ice Cream to the point that the Barkeep at Braxton asked us so how did you get so much Ice Cream with your Beer. I smiled and said Family...... We had Dead Blow Stout with the Graeters Raspberry Chocolate Chip and honestly it was very, very good. Dark Beer and dark sweet Ice Cream.....:-)

Don't complain or shake your head, until you try it!

Oh between our Birthday Celebration? Our birthday's are two week apart, so the weekend in between those dates in July, we continue to celebrate!

We started out with a Bottle of wine, then had Fried Green Tomatoes, the salad we split was a Harvest Salad really good. I had the Dijon Chicken and "the Boss" had Bourbon Marinated Pork loin. For Dessert we had Chocolate Mousse and Bread pudding and had Coffee and Amaretto. Again wasn't cheap but then again when the service, food and the evening was pleasant, you have to pay more that McDonald prices. I paid but in return I got what I paid for and more. We had a very, very nice evening.

Sunday Asian at Kung Food's AmerAsia after a great church service at Crossroads-oakley . Fried Flounder with ginger soy dipping sauce .. How Fun Noodles with shrimp ( not sure I've ever seen these prepared or offered at other places its their house special noodle , wide and stir fried till the edges are crispy ) wife always gets Pad Thai . 100's of craft beers Good Hot n Sour soup , heck its all great .

The fish and ginger soy sounds good. I'll also take a run at the noodles and shrimp. And it will make my wife happy to find a new (to us) Asian place.

Sriracha wings and sushi at Drake's in St. Matthews. Big old breakfast sandwich at the St. Matthews Farmers Market. As farmers markets go, 3.75 stars out of 4.

If I hadn't just been to the West Coast and had Halibut more than just a few times, that was literally off the boat, I would have ordered that but my waiter agreed, off the boat, would be tough for them to match but it did look good. Again not cheap but if we didn't have the Bottle of wine an appetizer no dessert, then again it wouldn't have cost so much but.....we had a ball......:-)

Long John's family meal, not my choice.

Visited Cumberland Falls today and on the way over there my better half mentioned a restaurant in Corbin that she had heard about named Bubby's Barbecue. It's a buffet style restaurant with ribs, pulled pork, tenderloins, chicken, fried catfish, and much more. $38 for 3 of us, not bad at all. I busted a gut though, and felt like my stomach was stretched to the max by the time we arrived at the Falls,:wideyed:

I'd highly recommend Bubby's if you're ever in the Corbin area.

Haven't been to Carrabba's in awhile. Got drug to a surf and turf wine dinner and was pleasantly surprised. Mind you, one should for the price at $40/person.

This is a monthly occurrence for them and i highly recommend it. 4 course meal with 4 complimentary glasses of wine. Service was excellent and the food was very good. Thank you Carrabba's for a very solid evening! :thumb:

Had dinner at the Purple Poulet Friday evening with friends. The fried chicken dinner was fabulous! Four pieces of chicken (breast, leg, wing and thigh), green beans, buttermilk-bacon whipped potatoes with black pepper gravy and an extra side of creole grits. Not sure I've ever had better fried chicken. The grits were out of this world delicious! Heck, the whole dinner was!

Wife and I stopped in there tonight. Great place! Had an app and shared the salmon. Off the charts good. Sat at the bar, the bartender was a super nice gal. Met the owners wife. We will be back. Did see the chicken dinner and it was huge.
