All-around players

What about Clay Cecil, the QB from Highlands? If we are talking about All Around Players, he runs like a runningback, can throw the ball about 50 yards accurately from his knees, and can also punt a good ball inside the 10 yard line. Not a bad combination, IMO. :thumb:

Add in Brandon Brown of CovCath, a 3 year starter at Cornerback, and now a punt returner and starting running back (due to injury).

When the question of best "all-around" player in Kentucky is posed, how can there be any other answer than Henry Clay's Chase Minnifield.

He has run for touchdowns, he has caught a pass for a touchdown, he has thrown for touchdowns, he has recovered a fumble for a touchdown, he has intercepted a pass for a touchdown, he tackles, he punts, he kicks extra points and field goals, but no...........he has not yet played the tuba in Henry Clay's marching band nor sold popcorn at the concession stand.

This thread is not open for debate........Minnifield in a landslide!

No debate? Hardly. Two words... Doug Beaumont. FYI, Seen both.

Josh Wills and Jacob Sizemore ... both these kids don't get the attention they deserve.

Certainly big part of Devils success past couple years ....

John Michael Mayo from Pikeville was one at the beginning of the season. Does anyone have an update on his status?

You beat me to it 5432, with 4 touchdowns rushing in the last two weeks not to mention returning punts, kickoffs, being the gunner on kickoffs and punts and starting at corner. He's one busy boy

I'd also throw Joe Casteneda of CCH in the mix. Joe is being recruited by numerous DI schools at cornerback, returns punts and kicks with Brandon and very soon will also be sharing the tailback duties with Brandon

You obviously haven't seen Kasey Clark of Russell play. You might retract that statement for you see him play.

Keith Tandy of Christian County is the best all around football player in this state.

If you don't believe me put in a call to Coach Rodriguez at West Virginia.

Drew McDavid - Ashland

Matt Thomas - Ashland

Kasey Clark - Russell

Dustin May - Belfry

UKCATSFAN Clark doesn't even come close to Minnifield..Kasey is a very good high school player for Eastern KY, but is not on the same level as Minnifield, especially in the speed catagory.

J.T. Forrest from Raceland. Playing his 1st. year as an offensive lineman (previously a FB) and doing very well. Also is the long snapper and one of the hardest hitting LB in the state. If you see him play you will be impressed.

I have seen Doug Beaumont, too! Great player. Great college prospect.

This thread is looking for the best "all-around" player in Kentucky. Does Doug Beaumont punt? Does he kick extra points and field goals? Does he throw any passes? I think I can answer my own questions.

I still don't think there is a debate in this thread......best "all-around".

I love Doug Beaumont, Keith Tandy, and Kaelin Ammons as distant second place "all-around" players.

No but he lines the field, cuts the grass, and works the concession stand at halftime.:ylsuper: :ylsuper:

No doubt that Beaumont is one of the best RB in the state, but Minnifield does it all for Henry Clay. There is a difference in being the best at one position, and being really good at several. Example: Beaumont is a top 3 RB in the state, Minnifield is not mentioned in this category because he lines up part of the time at RB, QB, and WR on offense. Male may have the luxury of not having to play Beaumont anywhere else. All I am trying to get across is if HC lost Minnifield, they would be in a lot of trouble since he really does do everything for them.

I have to agree with you. Clay has averaged at least a hundred yards rushing and passing per game this year against some pretty good competition.
