2016 All-Northern Kentucky Teams

Maybe if Cooper won the big games Lonaker would have got some love.

They had a nice season.

Winning big games shouldn't matter. You can either play or you can't.

Did the SK players you mentioned not make it because SK didn't win "big games?"

DROP THE MIC!!

DROP THE MIC!!

To be clear that wasn't a shot at SK or anyone. I'm pointing out the fallacy of the logic used.

Congratulations to all players. We have so many talented athletes in Northern KY!

Oh I know you meant no disrespect of anyone at SK but your comment to a certain poster is spot on.

I wasn't taking a shot at Lonaker I was just stating if Cooper beat Conner, Ryle and Highlands and SK he would be front and center.

What coaches were on the nominating committee this year?

Congrats to the picks...and just like in politics, you cannot please everyone! NKY was blessed with a lot of deserving seniors. Good luck moving forward and best wishes...

There are a few small school players that didn't make it that surprised me some. Aiden Justice at Beechwood and Justin Blackburn at Ludlow had a strong year offensively, Jake Martin at Brossart and Owen Finke at Holy Cross did some damage defensively.

Not taking anything away from Lonaker, but he had about 60 more attempts than Morgan. Flip the stats and Morgan would probably be the passing king. Lonaker had some rushing yards but Racke had 600 on the ground and split some time with Schearer, which did quash his stats a little bit.
Not true at all. Actually half way through the season Morgan had more pass attempts and I pointed that out at the time and Lonaker still had more passing yards, higher compl % and more TD's with less Int's. There is no way if you gave Morgan as many pass attempts he'd lead the state. He is 20th in the state now with 1 more game than Lonaker played, no way he would be close to 1st.

The only reason everyone talks about Morgan and disregards Lonaker is because Morgan had been known about for 3 years coming into this season and no one knew about Lonaker plain and simple. If Morgan had Lonaker's stats this year everyone would be touting him as the best ever. It's really a shame that so many people have their blinders on when it comes to what Lonaker has done this season.

To be clear I said "nice."

Great stats. Great year for Lonaker. We're talking about a good group of QBs.

Mayer wins with a better arm and a better overall athlete.

Mike Vick was the best athlete when he played in the NFL but he by far wasn't ever the best qb.

What big games did SK win? Cov Cath? Ryle? All those teams mentioned will be sitting home this Thanksgiving the same as Cooper. So no players on any of those teams should be on the list according to you right?

I know one thing, there could be a lot of players that we think should have made the list that didn't and make arguments for. But the fact that Hendrix, (the best DB in Northern Kentucky) didn't make either team and only made it for receiver is laughable. That is an obvious miss. Other than that, congrats to all of those young men on a nice honor and for working hard to be some of the best in the area.

I think Lonaker is a great QB and I have much, much respect for Coach Bourchers and what he does year in and year out developing not only QB's but players. I'm a Ryle guy, but my son still has many friends at Cooper, so I never have any ill will even when they play each other. But the difference between Morgan and Lonaker is in the types of throws made. Lonker had ton of West Coast Offense types of throws. Then when he did go long, and long he went many times. Many of them were up for grabs. Hendrix can out jump anyone. Morgan on the other hand didn't need to throw it up for grabs. There isn't a WR on Ryle's team that can out run his deep ball.

When Western MI coaches were watching him throw. QB coach and the TE coach. He told the other guy. He's making all the throws in our playbook. We won't have to change a thing. This season I saw Morgan throw against the grain running left. He completed a old school Jump pass. Throw long, throw short, with touch then rocket passes. His pocket presence was not High School QB'esq. Morgan works his craft Again, Lonaker is a great QB and had a Great season. His stats proved that, I'm taking nothing away from him. The difference was in the types of throws.
