I think Lonaker is a great QB and I have much, much respect for Coach Bourchers and what he does year in and year out developing not only QB's but players. I'm a Ryle guy, but my son still has many friends at Cooper, so I never have any ill will even when they play each other. But the difference between Morgan and Lonaker is in the types of throws made. Lonker had ton of West Coast Offense types of throws. Then when he did go long, and long he went many times. Many of them were up for grabs. Hendrix can out jump anyone. Morgan on the other hand didn't need to throw it up for grabs. There isn't a WR on Ryle's team that can out run his deep ball.

When Western MI coaches were watching him throw. QB coach and the TE coach. He told the other guy. He's making all the throws in our playbook. We won't have to change a thing. This season I saw Morgan throw against the grain running left. He completed a old school Jump pass. Throw long, throw short, with touch then rocket passes. His pocket presence was not High School QB'esq. Morgan works his craft Again, Lonaker is a great QB and had a Great season. His stats proved that, I'm taking nothing away from him. The difference was in the types of throws.

While I will agree with your perspective of Morgan 100% and his ability to make "all the throws" which he does very well let's not miss out on what I feel is just as big of a differentiator in that Tanner has started varsity since his freshman year and this was Lonaker's very first, and last, year starting on Friday nights. Experience and the ability to speed read defenses and coverage are things that Lonaker just simply didn't have in his toolbox from the beginning but he made the best of his opportunity and was pretty accurate. He got better as teams repeatedly figured out the only way to "contain" Hendrix was to double him up and Jerod did do a better job of finding other receivers.

Morgan is as polished of a QB as NKY has seen in a very long time and he will do well at WMU. I wish him the absolute best and I hope some school takes a chance on Lonaker as he will only get better with experience.

Couldn't agree with you more. If Lonaker had the reigns sooner, it would be impressive. I wonder why they didn't use him as QB sooner. However, Nathan Brown was a stud last year as well.

Just want to shoutout Conners QB Walker Buelow. This kid attacked the off season to win the starting spot. He played on hell of season, didn't get that much notice playing with Jackson next to him. But the kid lit up some teams!

Agreed. I thought he had a nice season. He had to battle over the summer to win the job and did well once he got the reigns.

Questions, Is he a Senior? Who did he win the job over ?

Yes he is. #10 Cooper Gullion junior. Who will battle with freshmen Jared Hicks

3 sophomores recognized and definitely all 3 are ones to watch the next 2 yrs.

Castleman- Beechwood

McGinnis- CovCath

Lawrence- Campbell Co

Congrats to everyone on the list and nice to see a couple Birds in there even though they had a tough year. Michael Dunn had a great year and Vennaman was fun to watch blowing by just about every DB in NKY this year.

Beechwood actually had three sophomores make the list. Fisher and Derry are also sophomores.

Just not sure how a kid with over 900 yards receiving and 18 total TDs is left off this team.

I 100% agree with this. I believe that many if not all NKY teams would have loved to have Lonaker as their QB. The kid had a break out year and did a lot of things right. Morgan just has so much control with the ball, he can do anything he pleases with his throws, A true pocket passer. I do believe that Blackburn from Ludlow should have been noticed, and how about the kicker from Gallatin?

Agreed. Against 6A competition as well. Top 5 WR in NKY IMO.
