Imagine that, they won a couple of titles but they are cheaters...

Sad

I'm halfway with Matt Jones on this one. UNC is known for their fake classes and rampant academic fraud throughout the entire athletic department. Sydney Moss has surgery and had nowhere to go during recovery stayed at an assistant's house. UNC has no sanctions. Thomas More vacates a title. Unreal.

The NCAA is truly unbelievable.

Where would she have stayed had she not had surgery? I don't get where the surgery factors in.

Your point , though, is more than fair.

It sounds like to me Thomas More as an athletic department has no clue about NCAA rules and that's ashame. The head coach had to know all about it originally and just let it go, its not fair what he did to all those young ladies who play for. As a head coach or an assistant do you not know that this wouldn't be a red flag and not let it go on for 8 months or as far as we know it could have been longer.

"a women’s basketball student-athlete living impermissibly with a former assistant women’s basketball coach."

Was the FORMER ASSISTANT coach an assistant coach at the time and NOW a former coach, or a FORMER asst coach AT THAT time?

Wouldn't she have been on scholarship and have a dorm room?

I'm confused...

But do agree that the punishment seems extremely excessive in comparison to some of the violations and much larger schools.

No schollys in D3.

He was an assistant at the time I believe.

Do we know more details about this? How did she have no where to go?

I gotta believe Nell would of put her up, no?

The coach is Jerry Allen. Jerry was on the staff in the 14/15 season.

Justice is swift and sure on the small schools. You can look at this two ways - the NCAA is sending a message that D-III is the last bastion of unsullied college athletics, or Thomas More just didn't have the time/money to fight this.

Either way it stinks IMO - some kid at Amherst, Colby, Tufts, etc. wouldn't need to worry about surgery/rehab expenses and living accommodations.

It's almost discriminatory - but thankfully it benefits the D-III schools who really have the most to lose if D-I hoop players start transferring to a school like Thomas More - and winning.
