November 2, 20169 yr Obama has cost thousands of people their jobs due to his changes to healthcare. I despise him for that alone and that's one of 100 reasons. I've come around on President Obama compared to where I was 8 years ago. Maybe part of that is growing up and maturing over the last 8 years. However, this was always be his legacy in my eyes and trump anything else he ever did.
November 2, 20169 yr I asked the question to a friend of mine. I told him, I'm probably better financially than I was 7.5 years ago. He said he was not. Too many companies had gone out of business and he was commission based. He said that is not what bothered him the most. What bothered him is the decline of Morals in society.
November 2, 20169 yr Are you kidding me? Damn. You can't even get a tenth of that on a CD these days. But you couldn't get a 3.5% mortgage either. It works both ways.
November 2, 20169 yr Are you kidding me? Damn. You can't even get a tenth of that on a CD these days. Of course mortgage rates were also in that double digit nightmare.

Too many companies had gone out of business and he was commission based. He said that is not what bothered him the most. What bothered him is the decline of Morals in society. I hear that a lot TAC from people I know. My question always arises as to "When were the morals in this country all the rage?" I see a sense of morality in some arenas of my past and the recent history but also saw some pretty awful things I would call immoral and others would just call society issues.
November 2, 20169 yr First let me say I'm one of the lucky ones. I have a job and I've gotten small raises every year the last seven years. Not enough to cover cost of living increases though and that's on Obama. Biggest examples. Before the Democrats screwed up health care even worse then it was before I had a nice plan. Paid a reasonable co-pay and wasn't concerned when I needed to go to the doctor. Now between paying my portion of the premium and the co-pays and deductibles that I have I have to go almost 5K out of pocket before I get any coverage at all. But hey, we have lots more people who were "uninsurable" before on the insurance rolls. I on the other hand now have major medical but I'm paying more then I was for comprehensive coverage before. Then today I hear that LG&E and KU are going to ask for a rate hike that will raise the average consumer's bill $13 a month in order to pay for improvements mandated by Obama's EPA to try to meet standards that are unattainable. 13 bucks may not sound like much but on my budget it is. Now I know that Obama's supporters on here will tell me I'm being selfish, and that as Spock so eloquently put it the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one. Frankly I don't care. I'm 100% being selfish because I'm convinced that that's the driving force behind many that support Obama and his agenda. I want mine and to hell with everyone else. At 56 years old I'm tired of working hard just to get by paycheck to paycheck. I'm also terrified because I'm closing in on the age that I can start thinking about slowing down and retiring. Based on projections of my 401K and what Social Security says will be available if I want to retire at 67 I'll have to sell my house (a modest 1000 square foot ranch built in 1959 that I bought from my grandparent's estate by the way, not a mansion that all of us rich deplorables supposedly have) and move back into an apartment because I won't be able to afford my mortgage and there's no way I'll be able to pay it off before then. So thanks for the past 8 years Barry. If possible you've made me even more cynical and bitter then I was before. This article says nothing about mandates. LG&E rate hike to cover updates, smart meters

November 3, 20169 yr Author This article says nothing about mandates. LG&E rate hike to cover updates, smart meters If the meters will save money then why are they asking for a rate hike? It's universally accepted that the EPA's war on coal will drive up energy costs, Obama even admitted as much. And besides there's no way the CJ would publish anything negative about Obama.

Some would read your initial post as saying KU/LGE SAID the rates were going up due to mandates. it did not so you are speculating. The article doesn't support your speculation.
November 3, 20169 yr I am a solid R. I disagree with Obama on nearly everything. That being said, I am significantly better off than I was 8 years ago. Primarily, because I have worked hard and moved up in my career. The next President will have the similar small impact on me as Obama has.

November 3, 20169 yr If only everyone used this much logic in their thinking. Exactly, if everyone worked hard they wouldn't need an Obamaphone.
November 4, 20169 yr I asked the question to a friend of mine. I told him, I'm probably better financially than I was 7.5 years ago. He said he was not. Too many companies had gone out of business and he was commission based. He said that is not what bothered him the most. What bothered him is the decline of Morals in society. The overwhelming majority of Americans have always grown more prosperous over time. Basing your opinion on Obama on whether you are better off financially than you were 7-1/2 years ago is setting a very low bar, IMO. Severn and a half years after graduating college, My annual salary had nearly tripled. Adjusted for inflation, it is about the same as it was when Obama took office. I guess I should be thankful that I am one of the lucky ones.
November 4, 20169 yr I've gotten at least 3% raise every year since Obama took over. One of those years was 4% and another was 3.5%. My health care hasn't risen that much either. Thanks, Obama!!!!!!

You are in public education, right? You should probably be thanking all of the taxpayers, instead of Obama.
