Great game. The best team won. Ashland is not the same team that I saw play two weeks ago. Congratulations on a great win. Now win the championship.

I forgot. The field looked great.

Well I just got back from the ballgame, and what a ballgame it was. I was pleasantly surprised at just how well Ashland played tonight(minus the turnovers). With the exception of Russell's first drive of the 2nd half, Ashland pretty much dominated this ballgame tonight, but they shot themselves in the foot time after time. I thought that Coach Hart got way too conservative in the 2nd OT after Ashland had held Russell out of the endzone. Matt Thomas had been very effective running between the tackles all night, and I just thought the Tomcats should have kept pounding it at Russell, but Coach Hart seemed content to go for the FG to win it in the 2nd OT. The Cats prevailed in the 3rd OT though, and snapped Russell's two game win streak against the Cats, and also Russell's state leading 13 game win streak.

Congradulations to the Tomcats! Great game.

Hats off to a tough Russell team. Good luck the rest of the way!

Matt Thomas.... best game as a Tomcat!

As for the question about moving the game to tonight..... Why wouldn't you?

Shouldn't have helped one team more than the other. IMO it was a good move. (And I was out of town last night) so mine is an unbiased opinion. hahaha

I was glad to hear Coach Hart comment on how well the field drains now!

Hmmmmm!!! Ashland beats Russell, Raceland beats Ashland, Interesting.

TGF even I "the oldrambler" with orange colored galsses will not make that anology or get that started.  IMO what this great game came down to is that Ashland's team came into this game like Raceland did against Ashland. Meaning that they were very determined and very confident, not thinking that they could win but KNOWING they would.:thumb: That is JMO.

That is definitely the best I have seen Matt Thomas as a Tomcat. He ran the ball hard all night long and hit the holes quick and hard. Let's hope Matt can keep that up the rest of the year. Of course none of that would have been possible if it hadn't been for the great play of the offensive line. I'm especially proud of the way Michael Walters played. :dancingpa :dancingpa

I would agree with what you said. Very hard fought game. Russell had several occations to win it and failed. Again great football.

So what you're saying is that if Belfry/Russell III happens this fall that you would be willing to fork over the price of admission and make the trip down US 23 to Belfry and watch. Ill save you a seat if it happens.

If Ashland isn't playing on the same evening, I'd be tickled to death to watch that game. Then again, if you're paying for the gas and the ticket, the bill will be higher than you think. I have to drive 3 hours to get to US 23....

Frances

I would guess that this will make Raceland the Number one team on the super seven pole.

I won't pay your travel costs, but I will buy you a ticket and feed you, Frances.

I know Frances and belive me when I say, I'd much rather buy her $69 Grayhound ticket than feed her. :D :D :D

There's alot on my mind right now so sorry if I just jump from one thing to

another.

That one hurt.

Earily similar to the Kiwanis bowl three years ago. That was all I could think

about going into OT, and I wonder if it perhaps leaked into any of the Devils'

minds on the field...

Russell simply missed on opportunities to win the ball game or put the ball

game away. Certainly the 5 fumbles should show that Russell had every

opportunity to win.

I do wonder why Russell didn't stick with the power-I in the second half. I

realize that Russell only has a limited set from that formation, but it seemed

to be very effective on that first drive. I suppose I can understand McGlone

going back to his bread and butter, however.

How far in front of Frazier did the pass on third down in the 3rd OT skip? I

really don't know the answer to this, I couldn't see the actual play and I

would like to know.

I feel terrible for Evans (the Russell kicker). He seems to be having a bad

year. He had to quit the soccer team due to leg problems, he didn't have a

good game against Greenup on the PAT's, and then tonight, which you

certainly can't blame him for. However, I would much rather him miss now

than in the playoffs (where it always seems the Russell kicking game haunts

us). If Dwaine is reading, keep your head up, we've got 13 games left this

season, we need ya.

I feel horrible right now for everyone on the Russell side. I certainly didn't

wish for this on my senior year, but we can still have an excellent team and

season. It will be interesting to see how this team reacts. I've been worried

about how this team would react. It's been 13 games since they've been

in this position, but hopefully they can get well against Boyd Co. next week.

Sorry for rambling and being totally incoherent, but that's part of what this

site is for, right? Hopefully I'll be able to regroup by tomorrow with actual

thoughts on the game.

Note: I'm not on the ball team, I think that would be pretty apparent from

the time it took after the ballgame to post - I just take these things very

hard.

Before the game, in the prediction thread:

... The best team will win. No cry babys. No what ifs. The refs were bad. If he would have seen that. All excuses. I truely believe the best team will win.
- and after the game:
Great game. The best team won. Ashland is not the same team that I saw play two weeks ago. Congratulations on a great win. Now win the championship.

Jeepman - let me be the first to say that I really respect those two posts.

My attendance at post season football games is dictated by my work schedule. If I can't make it, can I just grab a steak at a nice restaurant, and send you the bill?

If nothing else, I'll catch up with you in Louisville, Tusi. :thumb:

PS - on a serious note - Russell / Belfry would be a dandy game, if it comes to pass. I wouldn't want to be a AA team from the other end of the state, come time to make a trip to the Pizza Box.
