That one hurt.

Earily similar to the Kiwanis bowl three years ago. That was all I could think

about going into OT, and I wonder if it perhaps leaked into any of the Devils'

minds on the field...

Russell simply missed on opportunities to win the ball game or put the ball

game away. Certainly the 5 fumbles should show that Russell had every

opportunity to win.

I do wonder why Russell didn't stick with the power-I in the second half. I

realize that Russell only has a limited set from that formation, but it seemed

to be very effective on that first drive. I suppose I can understand McGlone

going back to his bread and butter, however.

How far in front of Frazier did the pass on third down in the 3rd OT skip? I

really don't know the answer to this, I couldn't see the actual play and I

would like to know?

I feel terrible for Evans (the Russell kicker). He seems to be having a bad

year. He had to quit the soccer team due to leg problems, he didn't have a

good game against Greenup on the PAT's, and then tonight, which you

certainly can't blame him for. However, I would much rather him miss now

than in the playoffs (where it always seems the Russell kicking game haunts

us). If Dwaine is reading, keep your head up, we've got 13 games left this

season, we need ya.

I feel horrible right now for everyone on the Russell side. I certainly didn't

wish for this on my senior year, but we can still have an excellent team and

season. It will be interesting to see how this team reacts. I've been worried

about how this team would react. It's been 13 games since they've been

in this position, but hopefully they can get well against Boyd Co. next week.

 

Sorry for rambling and being totally incoherent, but that's part of what this

site is for, right? Hopefully I'll be able to regroup by tomorrow with actual

thoughts on the game.

 

Note: I'm not on the ball team, I think that would be pretty apparent from

the time it took after the ballgame to post - I just take these things very

hard.

I know Frances and belive me when I say, I'd much rather buy her $69 Grayhound ticket than feed her. :D

That is by far the best I have ever seen Matt Thomas. This game could have went ever way several times so I'll leave all that alone and just send out the well deserved congrats to the Tomcats.

I've said this many times last year and this year. I don't think this is a bad thing for Russell. They have one less thing to worry about. I think that at this level of football it has a way to humble you and you find out you can be beat. And that alone makes you a better team.

Was it just me or did Ashland run the Football? Could this be a sign of the Ashland of old? But Great game, two exciting ball games in a row, I Love it. The Offensive line looked great, Matt Thomas looked great, and the defense look much, much improved. Hats off to Russell, your a fine program with nothing to be ashamed of.
