Lord Tomcat, help me please. Carl (my cat) stretched out on a little rug 5 times today, praying (as it were) toward Ashland, so now I got me a cat to kill. If he keeps this up, I'm gonna put a purple jersey on him and FedEx him to Naomi Judd. Seriously (???), I feel your pride and rejuvination, and can't wait for our rivalry to mature into "The Game". Fball, if I wasn't a Belfry fan I seriously would be a Russell fan. Its so sick how close our programs are in prospective.

 

I just feel like this could be the most unpredictable game yet. Sheldon Clark certainly has something to say about that, and Mercer Co. might make it for not, but deep down I don't believe that. I honestly beleive the Devils or Pirates will win it all this year.

 

I know I'm not crazy. This will be a battle to the end. It almost reminds me of "Gangs of New York" the movie. Hated rivals, who can't help but appreciate one another.

 

I won't go into the analogy anymore, but it really applies. I'm just glad to knwo its gonna exist again. I think coach Haywood is :VERY slighly above McGlone (like .2 % before you get mad). I just want to see this game happen every year for the next 10 years.

 

Devils... screw tonight. Pick yourself up, get PO'd ,and get ready to whip every team you see until you travel to Belfry. Then lets make history!

I have to give some credit to some of the kids from Russell that I thought played well.

 

Clark was outstanding I thought. Everyone there knew he was going to get the ball and he just kept on going. And on defense he is always there to make the big play. That interception at the end was beautiful. It is a shame Evans never got the chance to kick the game winner in regulation.

 

I'm not sure who the long snapper was on punts and field goals. Keep your head up. That is the toughest and most underapreciated job in football. Anybody that thinks otherwise should try it some time.

 

Beekman is amazing. How can a kid that small be that tough. Man can he hit.

 

Sizemore was great as well. He is such a sure tackler. But your safety should never have to make that many tackles. On offense I think Russell should have stretched the field a little more and thrown him some more deep balls. With that size and and very good hands he will make the play. Also wouldn't mind seeing him at QB some to let Jones play RB and balance out the offense a little.

 

Keep your main goal in focus. Its early in the season and one dissappointing loss is not the end of the world.

Great game if your'e a Tomcat fan. I felt like this was a great game for Matt Thomas, none like he's had before at Ashland. He indeed was running hard but it also seemed like alot of the times it was 4 or 5 yards or more before even the first defender would meet him. That makes it a little easier to run hard, so I do believe this is the best the O-line has looked in the last 2 or 3 years at least at running the ball.

 

I do feel that IMO Ashland dominated the the line offensively more than I thought they would and had the Cats not stumbled w/ turnovers this game wouldn't have been this close.

 

Now I was especially proud of how this team didn't quit when they were down by 2 touchdowns and continued to fight back. I do believe that the Kiwanis Bowl a few years back gave these seniors something to look back on and realize that they could win this game.

 

Anyway I'm sure Russell will bounce back and be a force again this year in the playoffs.

Trust me the other 99% of Lawrence Co fans don't think that way! This is the same person that is calling for Goldsmith to be gone 3 games into the season with a Freshman QB!

Congrats to Ashland on a huge win! I think this is a good loss for Russell to bring some back down to reality. It's easy to get hung up on the great success they had last season but they now see that it's a new year. I think it will help them down the road and I expect them to be in the thick of things come playoff time.

POUND IT DOWN ASHLANDS THROAT, and when everyone in the region is at the game tomorrow, and Ashland is leaning back-fat with the gate money, and everyone is watching from Eastern Kentucky and Southern Ohio----- watch the DEVILS make the kittens wish they would have stayed in side in the nice DRY cold walls of their HOLY GRAIL OF A RELIC.
