The field goal was not good. The kick was from the left hash mark. It was a very tough angle for a short field goal. Evans kick was solid just a little wide of the post. Again that was a tough kick to make from that angle under those circumstance. Evans should keep his head high.

I just know the Russell guys said they thought the field goal was good and that after Ashland kicked the field goal and Russell was ready to start their offensive series in the third OT that they would have an interview with a jubilant Ivan McGlone after the game.

The Devils defense took a big hit the first play of the game when starting nose tackle Jonathan Cornwell went down. Potential ACL tear, let's all hope that he is okay. I hate to see any kid get injured and lose a season. And as far as Ashland vs. Boyd Co. being a bigger game it has district implications and playoff seeding on the line so it probably is a little more important , year in and year out the Ashland-Russell game is a good measuring stick for both teams between two schools who love to hate each other in a good way I guess!

I had no idea about that injury hopefully he will be ok.

While I am impressed with Kasey Clark's athletic talents, I would think twice about putting him on the list for Mr. Football.`He was called for one unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and could have been called for another from what I saw. He was in front of the Ashland student section struttin and taunting them. Not a lot of class.

Those that live in glass houses should not throw stones. Clark is very emotional and plays his guts out. Yeah, sometimes he reacts without using his best judgement but name me one teenage kid that doesn't. Yourself included when you were that age. Talk about not alot of class.:sssh:

I don't think Coach McGlone was very jubilant after the game. I am sure he congratulated Ashland on a good win and handled as professional. He has been at it for a long time and that is not the first really tough loss he has had to suffer.

 

The radio crew would have been looking from the short side of the field and it may have appeared to be good from that angle. But the referees were in good positiona and judging by where the ball hit the trees made the right call. From my side of the field it looked wide.

Yes he did. He made a couple of shoe string tackles, just enough to trip Clark up. Had he not been in position they would have probably resulted in long TD runs for Clark and a Russell victory.:irked:

Another name I heard several times last night was that of the Slone kid. I'm sorry I can' remember his first name, but I know his Dad has to be extremely proud of the way he played.

Absolutely agree!! That would be some kind of double whamy in that backfield! WOW!!! Could the Cordle kid from Columbus handle the QB spot in Tylers Absence? If that is possible that seems to me, that would be huge! Good luck the rest of the season Devils. I'll be watching you!:thumb:

I know Cordle looked pretty good against Greenup in some limited action. He is only a soph. so I don't know if he is ready to step in just yet. Sizemore is another option at QB. I know he is Russell's best reciever (this should sound familiar to Ashland fans), but he looked pretty good in the preason throwing the ball and has the athleticism to play anywhere the coaching staff would choose to use him.

 

Coach McGlone has always done a good job of finding the right spot to put his players to maximize their talent for the good of the team. I have confidence that he will do the same again this year. After all he sees them every day and is a better judge on this subject than we are.
