I realize BG is ready for the NFL right now but I don't see them putting up 60 on Friday. I guess we will see. Rumor in West Paducah is that McCracken will show up for the game.

 

Sorry for the snark but I go back to the Lone Oak days when the haters ragged the scheduling for being too soft. Well, McCracken could easily schedule 10- 0 every year if it wanted to but I give it a ton of credit for doing what it can to build a program that will someday compete with the commonwealth's elite teams. Sometimes you gotta take a whipping or two to get there but I believe they will get there.

You just have to be like the movie Rudy. No one gave that guy a chance and basically laughed at him the whole time. But he never quit and you shouldn't either. Small steps; compete for 4 quarters against BG and focus on beating PRP. Do that and it's a win in my book!

I picked McCracken because they're my team. I've been watching them since consolidation. I'd pick them no matter who they played. Sure BG is the better team & I have much respect for BG . They're the class of football in Western Kentucky. Along with Mayfield. So when you lose as hard as it is losing to classy programs like Mayfield & BG is not a bad thing. Just playing them makes you better. I don't think BG is anything like Pulaski Academy so I don't think it'll be a running clock, but I'm sure BG is at least a 25 point favorite.

 

About the rankings...Bowling Green is ranked 92nd nationally by Maxpreps and Pulaski Academy is ranked 215th. So, the Purples might be a little better, at least by the rankings.

McCracken Co. has a very experienced team, good size, a QB and WR with Division I offers, and they are averaging almost 50 points per game. While they face a difficult road in the playoffs, folks in this thread do not realize the talent level of the MCHS players. The only team on the BGHS schedule that has McCracken's level of skill players has been Christian County.

Mayfield put 45 on McCracken, I think BG will be a whole lot better than mayfield.

I think the only way Mccracken gets consistently competitive with 6A outside of west ky is if they eventually start depleting tilghman which I dont think will happen. Mccracken has to grow its number of high quality athletes if they want to platoon. Right now they have enough to produce a solid offense. They need about 5-10 more to produce the same kind of defense.

Bowling Green is the real deal. Central Hardin played tough against them for 2 1/2 quarters and then shot themselves in the foot with turnovers. Bowling Green would have won, but we should have scored more than 7 on them. No one is touching BG. Respect to MC, they played a heckuva game against CH in the Region last year. But BG gonna win this one.

I applaud McCracken County for upgrading their scrimmages and some of their regular season scheduling. They are working to "get over the hump" Not there yet, but working it with determination. So, since they are not quite there I will say BG 45 - McCracken 28.

With much respect to BG, you can't compare BG's schedule to Pulaski Academy's schedule. Look at who they've played. They travel all over the nation. Utah, Oklahoma, etc. Yes they lost to a Utah team but if I'm not mistaken they're ranked nationally as well. BG is good probably the best in the state IMO. I don't see them being anywhere close to the likes of Pulaski Academy though. Regardless of their respective rankings.I chose McCracken to win. It's more of a wish than a pick.

They do platoon, sans maybe DE/WR Daniel and DB/WR Schaaf. And I think the only reason they play occasionally on offense is because they want to, the team is more than well-stocked with receivers. But, yeah, having 5-10 more good athletes would help any team.

 

If McCracken is to step up, I agree with the point that it will start with keeping good coaching. If they can avoid a revolving door of coaches, they'll be OK.

I'm choosing BG big in this one. They will win big the rest of the way out. Extremely talented and playing like the Champions they are. I haven't seen McCracken play, but I don't think it matters. The Purples are just that good.

I realize that it was a pre-season scrimmage, but McC's QB looked very good against Trinity-----excellent arm and good presence and decisions. If he can get time to throw maybe he can cause the Purples' defense some problems. On the other hand maybe BG is just that good and really doesn't matter.

Looking forward to the game. My prediction of another running clock is not a slam agaist McCrackin, just my opinion.

 

Looking forward in our young defensive backfield being tested. As I said at beginning of year, if you beat Purples this year you do it by the pass. No one around here will beat them with the run. With that said, everyone, including BG coaches have been pleasently surprised of how well and how quick our defense came together. The mark of a really good team is their consistency and how they improve throughout year. Anyone that watched Purples play last week saw a team that is peaking. Perfect timing.

 

Cash Jones, IMO, is better than kid at Christian County and better than the backup qb we faced in St X. Jones will be best QB we have seen since the kid that was at Pulaski last year. I feel Purples will have great success in this challenge.

Really looking forward to this game. It's been a brutal last month or so for BG fans with Grayson County, Barren County, a bye week and Greenwood being the latest on the schedule. I mean Greenwood's got a nice little team, but pretty one dimensional so pretty easy to stop if you have the talent.

 

For me, it's hard to judge exactly what McCracken has because of the schedule. I hope they put up a decent fight to give BG a challenge heading into the playoffs. I have a feeling that BG will get a running clock though at some point in this game.

Wow, I hope the Purples aren't as overconfident as some (and I emphasize "some") of their fans. There wasn't a running clock in last year's game at BG. Are the Purples really that much better than they were a year ago? I don't think McCracken is any worse, probably better.

 

I may eat my words, but I don't see this as a running clock game and McCracken may even win the game. Don't worry, I'm pretty confident that McCracken will at least "put up a decent fight." Such arrogance!

I expect Bowling Green to handle McCracken however I thought Bowling Green would have no problem with Graves...so sometimes things happen.
