  1. After watching 6A McCracken County get drilled by crosstown rival 3A Paducah Tilghman this season will have few bright spots. McCracken County in my opinion could very well end up going 2-8 this season. They have a tough schedule ahead of them & will be 0-6 before they can even fathom a win. Not taking anything away from PT but McCracken made them look better than they actually are. I see them going 6-4. All they have are athletes & that alone makes them competitive against some less than par teams.
  2. As always I'm picking the Stangs to win. May not happen just like against BG. Then again no one really expected McCracken to win that game. The 3 teams McCracken has lost to this season are a combined 28-1. So the losses aren't anything to be ashamed of. I expect the PRP to be a tough first round game if not the most equal 1/4 match-up in the state. All of the Super-District can play we with anyone in the state. Hard fought game by both but I'll take McCracken 35-27.
  3. With much respect to BG, you can't compare BG's schedule to Pulaski Academy's schedule. Look at who they've played. They travel all over the nation. Utah, Oklahoma, etc. Yes they lost to a Utah team but if I'm not mistaken they're ranked nationally as well. BG is good probably the best in the state IMO. I don't see them being anywhere close to the likes of Pulaski Academy though. Regardless of their respective rankings.I chose McCracken to win. It's more of a wish than a pick.

  5. I picked McCracken because they're my team. I've been watching them since consolidation. I'd pick them no matter who they played. Sure BG is the better team & I have much respect for BG . They're the class of football in Western Kentucky. Along with Mayfield. So when you lose as hard as it is losing to classy programs like Mayfield & BG is not a bad thing. Just playing them makes you better. I don't think BG is anything like Pulaski Academy so I don't think it'll be a running clock, but I'm sure BG is at least a 25 point favorite.

  7. 7 Christian County 5 Daviess County 3 Edmondson County 2 Metcalf County 1 Caverns TB Daviess County
  8. My bad.. Both have "Committed" to play @ SEMO. It was on local news that he had signed to play for SEMO. This was before the season had even started. Daniel is going to Memphis to play.
  9. Actually he & his receiver Woods have signed with SEMO.
  10. You have to throw Cash Jones from McCracken in the mix. Only 2 games this season has he played in the 2nd half & has 26 TD passes. Given that it has been against some sub-par teams but 26 TD's in 7 games with limited time played is pretty good. He's already signed to play at SEMO.
  11. Now that McCracken is getting players back from injury they'll be looking for a running clock in hopes of getting their starters out as soon as possible to avoid further injuries in the back stretch of the regular season. Even on all cylinders it won't be a cake walk for McCracken. Henderson has the athletes to play with McCracken but I believe McCracken has a few more. If Jackson let's up on the gas after he gets a comfortable lead it might not look so bad for Henderson. This district overall is a joke for a 6A district. Which puts McCracken in a lack luster mode. Luckily in the final week they host Bowling Green to wake them up. McCracken wins big @ Henderson 49-14

  13. Back in the day you had to win the district to make the playoffs. When I played it was the district winner & runner-up. (85-88) for me. We played an 11 game season with four rounds of playoffs. It seemed to work well then.

  15. Very well said Purple. Being a fan of McCracken knowing regardless of the achievements of the season that all roads go through Jefferson County. The fourth place team out of district 3 is just as good or better than anyone in the first district. Case in point 2014 DuPont Manual. McCracken played them well but gave up a 20 point halftime lead only to lose by 2 TD's. I'd like to say they're getting better every year but over these first four seasons some great talent has come & gone. Jackson's a great young coach with many years ahead of him. I just hope he stays put for at least a decade or so. Playing in this week district hurts more than helps. Fortunately playing BG the final week of the season will get them in reality mode before they host one of the beasts of Jefferson County. I'll be glad when they play another game closer to Paducah. These 2-3 hour drives can get a bit monotonous with Daviess, Ohio, & Henderson in consecutive weeks.
  16. Mayfield is lights out this year. No disrespect to Corbin but Mayfield is by far much more than one dimensional. Their defense is the best I've seen in years. When you've got an "Arnett" on offense ripping apart the opposing defense & then another"Arnett" @ LB that is in on every tackle its going to be a long night for Corbin. Best of luck to both teams with no injuries. Mayfield 42-21
  17. 7 Mayfield 5 Paducah Tilghman 3 South Warren 2 Madisonville North Hopkins 1 Hopkins County Central TB Mayfield
  18. McCracken has an annual McCracken Bowl. It basically just gives them an extra home game every year. So this is just a one year deal with each team they play for their bowl game. 2013 they played Bullitt Central, 2014 they played Southhaven, MS. 2015 they played Lift for Life Academy out of St. Louis, MO. They've yet to lose their annual bowl game. Until Pulaski comes to the Bluegrass. It's not going to be pretty. I just hope they can keep it from being a blowout. & Make it out with any injuries. This team has done some traveling for sure. This will be their third game after playing in OK, UT, & now KY.
  19. Mayfield can play with any team in the state. No question. But are prone to getting tired when playing both ways. Against a bigger school that'll hurt em when the other team has the #'s. Then again when you give Mayfield a 25 pt lead. There aren't too many teams that can make up that much of a deficit. Do IMO yes they could play with anyone in the state. They may not win but they won't get blown out by any means.
  20. It will not be close, if McCracken can't sustain drives better than what they did last week it'll be a running clock on the Mustangs.
  21. I have the utmost respect for Mayfield football. They have been & always will be the best team year in & year out. They consistently produce championships & are the mold of what other teams try to immolate. Both teams played their hearts out last night. Mayfield built a cushion & held on when McCracken got the momentum. As far as a blow out??? Are you kidding me? The first qtr looked as if it was going to be. Coming out of a 25 point hole & only losing by 5 & against a team the caliper a of Mayfield speaks a lot. For both teams. McCracken had some costly turnovers but Mayfield did as well. Arnett was the better QB no doubt but he threw some int's in the game when Mayfield could have run the ball & kept MC from getting the ball back. It was a heck of a game. Disappointed of the outcome, but Mayfield showed they were the better team & wanted it more.
  22. Mayfield was Mayfield. Plain & simple. Just as MC's coach said they were out played & out coached. You can't spot a team 25 points & expect to win. Especially a team as talented as Mayfield. Everyone including Mayfield's coach could see Mayfield was gassed. But Mayfield did what they had to do to get the W. You take away the 2 safeties on MC, we'd be looking at another OT again. Great game to see I hope all injuries are minimal & they'll be back by next week. MC will get blown out next week when they play Pulaski Academy. The team never punts or kicks off. All inside kicks. It's going to be nasty. Mayfield will roll into BG in Dec once again but I see them being 15-0 afterwards. As for McCracken being probably the weakest district in KY, they'll have to host one of the Louisville teams in the first round. Good luck to Mayfield & McCracken the rest of the season.
