McCracken will only win the games their supposed to this season and this is one of them.

Running clock by halftime vs all teams in district. But that just gets them a tough first round playoff game vs Lou prp then if they win st.x.

I guess that's why McCracken scheduled Male (scrimmage), Pulaski Academy (No. 1 in Arkansas 5A this week) and Bowling Green to get an idea of what it'll face in the playoffs. Not easy being a 6A in far western Kentucky if you want to go far in the playoffs, but that's the hand you're dealt.

Yes, but you're in a great situation to build your program. You have a great young coach (if he wants to stay is the question) and tons of athletes. You're biggest rivals are both smaller schools with much more tradition than you, but that you can compete with right off the bat. Remember you just started from scratch about 4 years ago. Adding teams like BG, Pulaski Academy and T to scrimmage is exactly what you have to do if you want to compete someday with Jefferson County. Remember only 7 teams have EVER won the 4A/6A championship outside Jefferson County. Rome wasn't built in a day. Keep scheduling good teams, dominate your district and thats all you can ask really. To compete from there you will likely have to have some special players. You had 1 last year and likely will again someday.

Easy victory for McCracken. Will be interesting to see how the Tinsley kid does against McCracken. No doubt one of the best receivers in the state with very good hands, speed and just a very good all around athlete. Daviess County got a jewell when he transferred in from Union County.

Very well said Purple. Being a fan of McCracken knowing regardless of the achievements of the season that all roads go through Jefferson County. The fourth place team out of district 3 is just as good or better than anyone in the first district. Case in point 2014 DuPont Manual. McCracken played them well but gave up a 20 point halftime lead only to lose by 2 TD's. I'd like to say they're getting better every year but over these first four seasons some great talent has come & gone. Jackson's a great young coach with many years ahead of him. I just hope he stays put for at least a decade or so. Playing in this week district hurts more than helps. Fortunately playing BG the final week of the season will get them in reality mode before they host one of the beasts of Jefferson County. I'll be glad when they play another game closer to Paducah. These 2-3 hour drives can get a bit monotonous with Daviess, Ohio, & Henderson in consecutive weeks.

You guys are in good shape! We are collectively in such a NOW mentality with our technical gadgets that if you don't win this week - well you must suck. Not taking into account that the other team(s) you are playing are dang good like that Manual team. They very likely could have been the 4th best team in 6A that year.

 

Of all the teams in the west that have potential to move up significantly from where they are right now, I would pick McCracken County first and Owensboro second and Glasgow/Allen County Scottsville third.

 

Steady, you are correct in your assessment of the district at this time. BUT you can't do anything about that. What you have control on is who you play outside of that and outside of Mayfield, I think you guys do as well as anyone with that part of the program. But keep scrimmaging T. You might get beat every year, but you learn every year too.

 

I am coming to Paducah on Tuesday for a quick day conference and I understand what you mean by 3 to 4 hour rides getting old! Best of luck tonight and I hope no injuries for you guys!

The weak district is why Henderson plays top 10 teams other than district games. Clay's last 4 years we won 9 games and 2 of those years we made region finals got beat in o.t. To male 14-7 and Bulter following year 31-24 in o.t. Both years we controlled the game until the last quater. They way you beat them is play best teams you can, get lucky with really good players and then the big kicker have to play 35 players. Both of those years we could have won if they would have played 18 or 19 guys like we did but we ran out of gas. Now our program is way down our first five games worst ranked team in their class is 6th so now playing those guys is hurting but hopefully I a few years we will be back. McCracken just keep building your numbers and playing best teams you can find you might be able to beat prp this year but they are good.

Cols, I like you're new Coach as I think he has talent, but I most like that I know he really wants to be there and do good things in Henderson. I am most concerned, not about your schedule, but about "sharing of players" at Henderson that I have heard about. Maybe that is inflated from days gone by, but to beat those teams you mentioned you need all the players you can get. I do think Henderson will get better, but will take time. It will help both McCracken and Henderson if this transpires.
