BluegrassPreps Class 6A Rankings - Discussion (8/20)

Featured Replies

Class 6A

On one hand the rest of Class 6A had to be excited when both of the Louisville private school powerhouses posted an "L" by their name. On the other hand, not many teams had room to brag as several schools either took losses or struggled to make statements in their season openers. Scott County emerges as the heir apparent to challenge the top of the rankings. The Cardinals will open with Lafayette and should have ample opportunity to turn heads. Male looked good against Floyd Central from Indiana and will square up against a solid Ballard team. Butler is the surprise team of the Jefferson County publics, but they draw the dubious task of taking on the same DeSales squad who just beat St. Xavier. The toast of Fayette County may be Frederick Douglass. The Stallions looked great against 4A Wayne County and most likely will be the team the rest of Lexington is chasing.

1. Trinity vs. Warren Central (IN)

2. Scott County vs. Lafayette

3. Male vs. #10 Ballard

4. St. Xavier -- Open

5. Butler vs. 2A #2 DeSales

6. Frederick Douglass at Tates Creek

7. Simon Kenton vs. Bryan Station

8. Manual vs. 5A Fern Creek

9. Central Hardin at 5A Bullitt East

10. Ballard at #3 Male

X and Ballard should be dropped out of the top 10. Henry Clay and Campbell County should be in the top 10.

Why?

Why?

They both lost! Want to be top 10 earn it! Sick of overrated Louisville schools Trinity needs the boot also!

So you think Henry Clay and Campbell County are better than Saint X? Based on what?

It's absolutely precious when you all get cocky like this. Downright adorable. :bunny:

If the big Louisville schools are overrated and they have dominated NKY and Lexington over the years what does that make those schools? Less then irrelevant? Cannon fodder? Hollow shells that just need a swift kick to collapse? Seems to be the case anytime they come to play the Rocks considering the last win against T from any of those schools was in what, 2004?

Let's put up before we puff our chest. Trinity has proven themselves, X has proven themselves, Male has proven themselves, as has Scott County... NKY has proven to be nothing more than a minor speed bump consistently. So until NKY or Lexington can beat a quality team as opposed to just punching around the other also-rans, they will consistently be ranked below even a 1 loss team from the powerhouses.

Overrated Louisville schools. :lol2:

Ballard lost to one of the best teams in the state of Kentucky in a game that was competitive from start to finish and they should be punished by dropping out of the top 10 so that Campbell County with their win over [checks notes] Dixie Heights can come in? C'mon.

If Ballard and Campbell played today, Ballard would be the clear favorite. These rankings are showing who is the best team, not who's capable of beating a 3-7 team from a lower class.

Trinity is so overated that they’re going to be on ESPN U. Lol. Not too many teams going to beat DeSales. Plenty of season to see if really overated, but a close loss to Carmel and DeSales doesn’t suddenly make you irrelevant.

When is the game on ESPN U? I'm going to make sure to tape that!

This Friday.

Rankings based completely on wins and losses are almost worthless. Strength of schedule is a huge part of ranking teams. Bottom line is take in all of the knowledge you have of teams and how they have performed relative to strength of schedule and then rank them in order of who you think would beat all the other teams below them.

Trinity is no longer a top ten 6A team because they lost by 3 points to the #2 team in Indiana? You honestly think Campbell County could beat Trinity and thus deserves to be in the top ten over them?

I can make the same point with St. X and Campbell County. The Camels are shaping up to be a nice team, but do you honestly believe they would beat St. X right now?

The rankings look good to me this week. I’m not sold on Simon Kenton yet but we’ll see as the season goes.
