Did the SK schedule (or lack of) catch up to them? Or was Ryle that much better?

Both Ryle and SK have almost identical caliber schedules. SK gets knocked for opening with CAL which has a very strong program and has been rated in top 10 or near top 10 of all schools season long. Other than that, both schools stay totally in NKy with the exception of Henry Clay for Ryle and Bryan Station for SK (two of weaker Lexington programs). I concur totally that it is very hard to elevate NKy football caliber without significant scheduling upgrades.

SK dropped three pics in the game. The first by Cooper was probably a pick 6. The other two by Kincaid who hand is messes up and he can't catch right now. Those three drops where followed by two Ryle TD's and one FG right before half. You cant let a QB as good as Morgan have second and third chances to beat you, because he will and did last night.

Based on what? Last year's SK team was better than this year's SK team or this Year's Ryle team, and they still didn't get past Lafayette to even get to play any Louisville school.

 

Both teams are very good but I think both teams need to show they can even get to the Louisville Schools before saying they are better than them and can compete with them. SK will have to get past Lafayette first again. While Ryle most likely will have to beat either Cooper or Conner again in the 2nd round both who showed they could play with Ryle and then Scott County will also be there. This is all before even getting to the Semi Finals.

 

If both teams are better than St. X and Male then they should have no trouble seeing each other again in the Semi finals. However I think you will be surprised how hard it will be for them to get to the semi finals if they get there at all.

Until a single NKY school beats a Louisville team the now way anyone can claim that they would beat them. Be happy you don't have to play any of those 3 until late in the season, IF you're fortunate enough to make it there

You've got the best QB and RB in NKY and two offensive lineman on the left side that will play college football. I don't think that's the play you want to call inside the 10 yard line.

 

Boy, my thought exactly. Ryle has a history of getting cute with their playcalling. They have been more vanilla - and more successful - this year. Chance to go up 18 and instead you give the ball back to SK and they throw a 98 yard TD pass and are right back in it.

 

My suggestions for future Ryle offensive game plans:

 

- Hand the ball to Chisholm 30 times

- Give Morgan 30 pass/run chances

- Don't get cute

- If in doubt about play call - see above

 

Follow this script and Ryle will do OK

Ryle and Simon Kenton have the talent to beat anyone in the state, will they? We won't know until the games happen but they were 2&3 in the state for a reason this past week.

I can say Newport can compete with them too, but unless I put some substance and facts behind it, no one is gonna listen or even begin to believe me.

Ageed. And they all put up points against those defenses that are weak. That's not a shot at any of them. It just is what it is when you only play each other and there are no other measuring sticks. This is what I've said all year, how do we know if any of them are "good"? We don't because their only competition is each other.

 

Not to make this a bad thing. But just to kinda make the point. No one said much about Conner in the beginning of the season and most felt Cooper was rebuilding with the outside chance their stud could win a big game for them. And now that Cooper and Conner have proven they can compete with Ryle and SK, all of a sudden they are considered really good teams! Is it that Ryle and SK aren't as good as some thought or was Conner and Cooper better. We all have opinions about that, but we have no real idea which is true.

 

Cooper lost to HHS. HHS scored 53 on SK. What in the world would T, X or Male do? And I'll include Lafayette and Scott Co. we have nothing else to measure them by this year.

 

I have said it 100 times. I will root for the NKY every day over any other team. But for me to even phathom any of those team being able to compete with them, I'd need some kind of valid measuring stick. Anything.

I think Ryle has done what many of us expected them to do last year. Just a year later. Ryle was expected to run the table in NKY in 2015 so with about the same team returning this year it is no surprise.

 

SK lost more than I think they want to admit on the defensive side of the ball and their season also doesn't surprise many who have been following NKY football the last several years. This year has pretty much played out as expected for me so far with the only surprise being how much Conner has improved.

NKY football isn't on par with Louisville football, much less the beat of the Lexington area (Lafayette and Scott County). Until some teams up here start beating those teams consistently you just can't make that statement.
