  1. I'll be the first to admit I know very little about soccer. However, maybe 1 or 2 of these local players ever play in the Olympics in the next 30 years. That's if 1 or 2 are really lucky! My guess is that very few ever even have the opportunity to play 4 years with a fully paid Division 1 scholarship. Go play for your school with your friends. If you're any good, the college coaches will find you. Save your money and put it in a 529 plan. I feel like these soccer places are just a money maker selling a dream. Chances are, the only way you ever make a living with soccer, is getting a job doing soccer training and you start selling the dream.
  2. The lead was at 9 mid 3rd qtr when Brossart missed 3's on 2 straight possessions that could've cut it to 6. The Camels had to work, but the 10-0 start made their night less difficult.
  3. Based on a few others opinions and then looking at stats, could it be Highlands needs to put more emphasis on defense to win?
  4. If this score is accurate and everyone played, then no progress has been made in the revitalization of the Highlands program in the last 3-4 seasons.
  5. He doesn't know what he doesn't know. Hopefully some of that gets addressed moving forward.
  6. On a serious note. I thought coming in that Covcath had a chance to win this game. Scott Co has an impressive offense, but I thought their defense was suspect against Highlands. Highlands gave Scott Co. a much better game than what they gave Covcath. I look for Covcath to host Bowling Green in the semi-finals.
  7. They could use more size on D for run support on the edges.
  8. I think Covington Catholic wins this game. Scott County doesn't have much of a defense and is one dimensional on offense. Highlands had them on the ropes in the 4th qtr with the lead and the ball and fumbled twice. And we all know Highlands isn't considered a good team.
  9. Is it really that far? Probably about the same as going to Grant County. More teams should look to Ohio to find quality games like this one.
  10. Surprising score. Didn't Highlands beat West Jessamine 6-0? West Jess had to have been Panda fans last Saturday.
  11. There's photos floating around that clearly show the Highlands player was not offsides and the goal should've stood. Bad call imo that shouldn't have been made by an out of position side judge.
  12. Maybe not, but at least they're finally trying something new. If they made just a couple defensive stops this year there was potential to change some outcomes.
  13. Did you even see the game? I'd say both teams were ready and it was an even game. A missed call from being a tie game. Are you suggesting Highlands didn't prepare for the post season with their schedule and NDA did? Both schedules were about as strong as you could make them while still playing the required conference games. Either team could've won and the other teams in the region were a notch below imo. Nda is on an impressive run, but both will be the teams to beat for the foreseeable future.
  14. Coming into the game I thought Ryle was slightly better because they have a better defense. Nothing I saw in the game changed my opinion. The teams are pretty even. Simon Kenton still could have won with a few less mistakes. Mistakes were common for both teams. There were dropped passes, poor throws, missed blocks, dropped interceptions, and poor tackling by both teams. There were also nice passes, great runs, and big plays by both teams. Neither team is what I would consider a great team. However, both are better than what NKY 6A puts out most years. Neither team is close to the level of Trinity, X, and Male. They're also not to the level of what Highlands was for their 8 year run. I root for all the N. Ky teams in the playoffs, but my feeling is that neither team will need to worry about practicing on Thanksgiving.
  15. If Highlands had as many students as Ryle I'm sure they'd be beating Trinity, X and Male regularly.
  16. I can give you one year Highlands likely would've beat Louisville St. X and Trinity. 2009. Here's my reasoning with scores. Cincy X 43 Trinity 13 Cincy X 24 Louisville St X 7 Highlands 12 Cincy X 7 in a game that Highlands completely dominated and fumbled inside the 5 yard line 2 or 3 times. Cincy X didn't even cross midfield until less than 2min left in the game.
  17. Looking at the statistics, Lexcath looks to have won the game mainly due to turnovers. The stats look way closer than the score. I'll take Boyle in the rematch. Boyle is historically the better post season team of the 2.
  18. I think if Boyle wants to get back to the level they used to be, you revise the schedule. Lafayette, Danville, and Lexcath are good opponents. Collins? One or two good years you can keep that game for another 2 years and hope they get better. Lincoln, Anderson, Dunbar, complete waste of time. I know North Hardin was a bowl game and a loss. It was a quality opener for where Boyle is at right now in terms of rebuilding. Long term I'm not sure North Hardin is a team you can count on to offer quality competition. I understand you don't want to play a team that's better than you every week. But my feeling is Boyle could help themselves by playing more games that demand better execution in order to win.
  19. Get Highlands on your schedule and see for yourself if they're down long term. And speaking of schedules, Boyle could be helped by a serious upgrade in theirs.
  20. Highlands defensive points allowed so far this year. Don't change a thing. It has to get better next week.
