    I've never seen Highlands football in such disarray. I don't have all the answers on what needs to be changed, but something sure has to change. It's time to start looking at everything.

    In my opinion, the schedule the last 2 years is easier than what it was prior to that. The prior 7 or 8 year's teams wouldn't have lost to any of the Ky teams on the schedule.

    Highlands doesn't have a defense. They have 11 guys on the field when the other team has the ball, but it's not a defense.

    This is how I think it shakes out by the end of the season and you could make an argument for either on the ties as of today. NCC will beat Beechwood this year. Highlands losing to Campbell County is a really bad loss by them. Highlands hasn't come to play on the road. 1. Ryle 2. SK 3. Highlands/Cooper tie 5. Covcath 6. Conner 7. Campbell Co 8. Newport Catholic 9. Beechwood 10. Holy Cross/Lloyd

    Sycamore and Oak Hills are teams that don't belong in a playoff conversation. Even more so after losing to Covcath.

    Does Newcath still use a few sophomores on the freshmen team to field enough players? I know they have in the past.

    It does. Unlike SK, Highlands fans aren't used to it.

    If SK drops Highlands they will never be taken seriously.

    Fairly even game. Either team could have won. Conner hurt themselves being careless with the ball a few times, and NCC had some breakdowns in the secondary in obvious passing situations.

    My point was there's more than 3 or 4 teams that can hang with Mayfield. I don't think that statement is being derogatory to Mayfield.

    I think Mayfield is a great small school team. But I was quoting the guy saying only 3 teams could hang with Mayfield. I used NCC and their schedule as an example of a team that goes 5-5 and they hung with Mayfield. Mayfield is good on their level, but there's 25 teams that could "hang" with Mayfield. Highlands is 1-5 and I'm quite certain they could still "hang" with Mayfield. Get out and upgrade the schedule. Give Highlands a call, I'm sure they could work you in over the next few years.

    If Mayfield played Newport Catholic's schedule they'd have about the same record every year as Newport Catholic. 5-5, 6-4, 4-6. Mayfield struggled with NCC last year. Mayfield historically hasn't played anybody.

    There has to be defensive changes for Highlands. Either coordinator, personnel, or both. It's broken. They've given up more points in 6 games than they did in some seasons in 15 games. Coaches might need to skip defensive films in the morning and attend the jv game and find a few guys that want to cover, tackle, and put a shoulder into somebody. Right now it's safe to say this is the least successful defense in 102 years.

    Both these teams are bad. If Highlands defensive coach had any sense at all, he'd resign immediately. Six weeks of getting gashed every series and nothing has changed. But I guess it's the head coaches job to make the changes. Simon Kenton can celebrate all they want. It's not a good win on the resume. You just gave up 53 to a 1-5 team!!!

    It's time for Highlands to put a few of the 10 receivers on the defensive side of the ball. Every time they've played has been able to run around the end and run over the corners. There's not enough run support on the edges. Does a team that doesn't possess the ball very long need so many receivers rotating in and out if some of those receivers could upgrade the defense?

    Highlands no longer has fresh grilled burgers and went to some sort of microwaved thing. I can't give a recommendation for it. Where's TIB on the grill when you need him?

    I'm sure if this "punter/QB" was an upgrade at QB he'd be in the game. I'd venture to guess if the starting QB got hurt, you still won't see the punter in at QB. It's past time to give up the QB pipe-dream. Move to another position to help the team, or accept being only the punter. Maybe the kid has and the dad has not. The behavior described above is unacceptable. If true hopefully other parents told the dad to zip it.

    False and I only went back 3 years. They lost last year to Highlands and they lost during the 2013 season. Perhaps you got confused about Covcath not beating Highlands in football at anytime for 10 years?
