Newport obviously has to limit the Big Fella on Highlands inside or it could be a long night. Highlands has to maintain contact with Newport and not get behind and start throwing up 3 balls. Neither has the depth to deal with foul trouble so they will have to avoid that.

 

Going to be kind of a strange atmosphere being at Dayton and the second game of the night. The crowd will be a mix of fans from 4 schools.

Should be close one, I'll go with Newport in a close battle to make it to NKU.

The difference in my opinion will be guard play and Newport's guards of Burries and Miller are much better than that of the Birds. Let Finfrock get his points and force their guards to beat you. In the flip side, of newport isn't hitting they could be in trouble. Should be a dandy of a game. Gonna try and make this one

The bottom line is Highlands has to go to Finfrock every trip down the floor and let him eat. The guards have to defend the perimeter and cut off the lane.

 

I expect a ton of fouls as well so the Birds will definitely have to hit more than 5/15 which is what they shot vs Beechwood.

McGuire has been out last few games for Newport. If he plays I like their chances.

Thanks for the info B-Ball Fan. I moved from the Fort in 1977 to Corbin, then to Pa. in 1978. From 1978 to 1990 I was lost on No. Ky. sports except for Birds football. With my first computer in 1990 started catching up some and finding and joining this site really helped to catch up.

That brings a question. Finfrock seems to score really well (15+ pts) against teams that have some size that he can go at them, but on the other team he seems to stick around 8-10 points. Not seeing them play that many times was wondering if the fluctuation on Finfrok's scoring because they aren't getting the ball inside enough?
