I'm not familiar with the transfer rules at all? I'm assuming she could have went to Notre Dame while still living in Grant County since it was a private school. Am I wrong?

That makes sense, but I'm going to assume this rule hasn't been followed recently based on the talk on here.

It almost sounds like they are doing a coin flip on approval. I wish they would just follow Ohio Transfer Rules.

@mcpapa, I got on the OHSAA website & there are several sports that seem to have a quarter or half limit, but it doesn't seem like it would make a difference with the math of remaining games/quarters that are left in the regular season (unless they go into a lot of OT games :ohbrother: )

Thanks for the info, I got on their website & looked at what they do up there. If I am reading it correctly, it seems like everyone is eligible after a transfer if they are willing to sit out half/a little more than half of the season.

 

Not a bad solution, but it does seem like that it would get to a point of being like the wild west up there. In my eyes, this opens up recruiting opportunities if the coach that wants the kid sells it right.

 

During my time as an AD, I sent one student to Ohio. I never received a transfer request from the school that the student transferred to or anything, so me being inquisitive, I called the school & talked to the AD. He told me that since the student-athlete was coming from out of state, there was no reason for a transfer (even though I knew Mom & Dad didn't move & that the student was living with an Aunt)

 

stuff like this just blows my mind, in my opinion & it doesn't amount to a hill of beans, but I feel if you don't meet the simple (and they are pretty simple) transfer exceptions, then you should sit out.

I'm pretty sure in Ohio a kid can only play a maximum of 5 quarters in a day. So a girl that plays both JV and Varsity could eat up the quarters before 12 games. Mason County played an Ohio team last year and they questioned about some of our girls that played in both games. BTW...A second counts as a whole quarter, so some of our girls played the "6 or 7 quarters" according to their rules. But since it was KY/OH teams the refs let it go (especially since MC was winning by a large margin).

I'd say at this point it's done! Wish the young lady good luck and let's close out the thread so the verbal sparring stops. I wouldn't mind seeing a general discussion on how the KHSAA could implement a rule similar to Ohio that is applied in ALL transfer situations.

There is no way this girl could live up to the hype, the only thing this has done is maybe have sold an extra ticket so I can go watch her play. I primarily watch Louisville teams play except for LIT but this may require a road trip.
