October 7, 20169 yr The eye is already north of Miami. Talked to my son in Apopka. He has the house battoned down, all vehicles inside enclosures, and both generators gassed up. Sent us a pick of the grandchildren having a slumber party in the parents' closet. Apopka is just north and east of Orlando. About 50 miles from the coast.

October 7, 20169 yr Author Anything with hurricane just behind it? It will head to the north and not approach the U.S. I've seen reports where some parts that will be hit by Matthew maybe uninhabitable for weeks or months.
October 7, 20169 yr Just got a text from my daughter-in-law. All fine in Apopka. They've been getting some gusts, but nothing really bad, and they still have power.
October 7, 20169 yr My son texted that it is pretty calm, over there. Of course, he's gone through several hurricanes, so calm could be a relative term.
