Is Boyle County the best team in the western side of Kentucky 3A?

Featured Replies

First, geographically, I know Boyle isn't west. But for the sake of bracketing they are located in the west. After their 0-3 start many were questioning the Rebels, but at this point are they the team most likely to make it to Bowling Green? Other western teams include Caldwell County, Lexington Catholic, Central, Bardstown, Garrard County, Adair County, Paducah Tilghman, Waggener, Union County, Western Hills, among others.

I think they have a much better chance than I believed a month ago. The LexCath game will tell us a lot about both teams. I refuse to overlook LexCath especially with their recent success against Boyle County the past few years. I refuse to overlook Central also.

Bardstown and Caldwell County look strong as well but in order for Boyle County to prove they are the best of the West they need to get past LexCath first. Bardstown/Central should be a great game.

I like the improvement that the young Boyle team has made, but they still have to improve much more these next two weeks to be in this conversation. They have to go to Lexington Catholic also, which is never easy anytime. Don't be lulled to sleep by LC's 1-5 record. They have played a tough schedule. If BC keeps improving by the end of the year I expect them to be a tough out in the playoffs. Could be a year away from being where we expect them to be. Their coaches are certainly not overlooking Garrard or Western Hills either. They then have to go to Dunbar for the final regular season game.

I hope so, one of my favorite teams.

I know Lexington Catholic is 1-5, but I think if Boyle can get by them then the answer maybe yes I think that LC's success over Boyle lately may have gotten into some of the Junior and Senior varsity players heads despite their record I believe LC is a very dangerous team and can't be overlooked.

I have no clue at this point..quite possibly they are!

At this point it would'n't surprise me to see one of about 10 teams get hot and win the West.

Boyle- Losses to very good teams and some solid wins

LexCath- Taking lumps against brutal schedule but they have had Boyle's number

Central- Also struggled against a brutal schedule but starting to come on strong

Caldwell County- They seem to check the most boxes but I just question their ability to win the big game with it on the line.

Garrard County- Hasn't been eye popping good, but they have been solid and have nice wins

Adair County- Undefeated and experienced. A wild card due to lack of challenges on their schedule.

Bardstown- Undefeated and still a bit of mystery. If they beat Central I think they suddenly are the favorite.

Waggener- Trending down but they still have the athletes if they get hot.

Tilghman- Waggener without the recruiting stars

Western Hills- Not sure they have enough horses, but they seem to be vastly improved

Boyle had been beaten by 3 good teams and beaten 3 bad teams. Boyle needs to beat a good team before being considered BG bound.

But one thing is certain; the Rebels are improving every week and the Rebels are healthy going into district play.

I wont call Collins and Anderson "Bad" teams, just won't call them "really good" teams. Both are a little down in the talent pool from levels they have been in the past. With that said both Collins and Anderson County would beat the vast majority of 3A on any given night.

Collins plays zero defense.

Anderson is big and slow.

I see Boyle no higher than 3rd. behind Catholic and Central currently and that's pushing it with Bardstown and Caldwell County just as good. This could change in 2 weeks but the way I see it today.

I did a little looking over the list you had above plus a couple more and here are couple of thing I was looking at.

Adair Co. 6-0 and the combined record of the teams that have played is 17-18. Adair is averages 54 pts a game and giving up 20.4 pts a game. Key games left Elizabethtown.

Lexington Catholic 1-5 combined record of teams played is 22-12. Lex. Catholic is scoring 25 a game and giving up 33.3. Key games left Boyle Co. and Garrard Co. and with the way Western Hills in playing.

Boyle Co. 3-3 combined record of teams played is 20-14. Boyle is scoring 33.8 a game and allowing 26.8 a game. Key games left Lexington Catholic, Garrard Co. and Western Hills.

Bardstown 5-1 combined record of teams played is 11-18. Bardstown is scoring 38.2 and giving up 16.2 a game. Key games left Moore, Waggner, and Central.

Central 1-4 combined record of teams played 22-5. Central is scoring 19.2 a game and allowing 31.4 a game. Key games left is Moore and Bardstown.

Garrard Co. 4-2 combined record of teams played is 19-15. Garrard is scoring 24.5 a game and giving up 24.7 a game. Key games left is Boyle Co., Lexington Catholic and Western Hills.

Waggner 3-2 combined record of schools played is 6-19. Waggner is scoring 36.6 and giving up 18.6 a game. Key games left Moore and Bardstown.

Paducah Tilghman 1-5 combined record of schools played is 21-15. Paducah Tilghman is scoring 27.2 and allowing 37.8 a game.

Caldwell Co. 3-3 combined record of schools played is 19-16. Caldwell is scoring 31.7 and giving up 19 a game. Key games left Union Co.

Union Co. 4-1 combined record of teams played is 10-19. Union is averaging 42.2 a game and giving up 14.2 a game. Key games left Caldwell Co. and Paducah Tilghman.

Moore 5-1 combined record of teams played 13-18. Moore is scoring 22.7 and giving up 21.8 a game. Key games left Central, Waggner, and Bardstown.

Western Hill 5-1 combined record of teams played 13-22. Western Hills is scoring 39.5 and allowing 32.7 a game. Key games left is Boyle Co., Lexington Catholic and Garrard Co.

I like Boyle's chances now better than before and they are starting to play good at the time they need to.

Ask me after the Garrard County and then the Lexington Catholic game.

I believe Bardstown is still undefeated..

I personally think it is a shootout! And any of those teams can get hot and make a run!
