This is the way a rivalry game is supposed to be played. Didn't feel like one for the longest time due to Bellevue really putting it on them for long enough. Big win for Dayton and hopefully they can build from this. Lots of work to do still, but it's nice to finally beat Bellevue again.

 

And congratulations to Coach Montgomery on his first win over his team he played for. He has to feel like he got a huge gorilla off of his back.

Didn't think I would see us beating Bellevue during my son's time there. It took 2 days to get it done. Some of the Bellevue kids not wanting to shake hands after the game. C'mon man.

The Greendevils almost gave this one away after dominating as much as a team can with a 14-7 lead.

 

Dayton had a 2nd and 2 in Bellevue territory with 3:45 left in the game up 14-7 and with all the Mo in the world. Bellevue down to 2 timeouts so a first down or two would do it.......................but an Unsportsman dead ball penalty makes for a 2nd and 17 back in their own territory. Next play Dayton fumbles and Bellevue recovers. Took Bellevue 3 plays to score from there.

 

Bellevue went for the PAT and it was either partially blocked or just a bad hit as it wobbled wide.

Want to say 2008 or 2009, I know it was Deaton's first season as coach after Coach Lickert left for Holmes.

I completely agree Frank. Dayton did just about all they could to give it away. Overall, Dayton looked better and clearly won at the line of scrimmage, just need a lot more discipline.

2007 season was the last time Dayton won. First game for the "paddle"... That year I believe the Greendevils reached the top 5 in the state before being upset by the Tigers in the playoffs

 

Great win for those kids, the coaching staff, and the entire community... Those games are the ones kids from those two towns always remember and nice to see the kids in green be on the good side for the first time in awhile.

Bet Bellevue Gold Star was probably an interesting place to be tonight at about 10 PM...
