Can Lexcath ever recover from this beating?
Highlands did. Got beat in the regional championship by the eventual state champs and are #1 in 3A this year.

When Vic has open field, it's over. And he has the best balance I've ever seen on the HS level, period. Some of his runs tonight, while aided by excellent blocking and less-than stellar tackling, were simply amazing.

Highlands never recovered from the Colerain beating last year. It wasn't the X beating. That game was just a continuation of the beating started the week before. I think you'll have a little tougher time with Highlands this year, But who knows, maybe you'll crunch them again. They were never a good team last year, so don't put too much stock in that victory. Just like when Highlands beat X in 1996 in the Tates Creek bowl. X was never a good team that year, so the victory was that big of a deal to Highlands.

HHS lost 17-0....not 42-0....But this is 2 different years. Last year has nothing to do with this year...

Who wasn't?

Sure, they were beat like this in 04 and came back to win a 3A title. The truly sad part is that the Knights actually had a chance early on. They moved the ball very well early in the game between the twenties and then shot themselves in the foot. They failed to convert on a couple of chances to actually take a lead.

Then the avalanche.

Some observations:

1. LexCath can't tackle.

2. LexCath has a tough time running the ball.

3. X has a bunch of weapons on offense.

4. Both teams had a number of costly penalties.

5. X has a tough time defending the pass.

6. I predict that Wade will be considered the starter at QB for now.

Thats it for now.

Newsflash. Lexcath didn't win the state title in 04.

Highlands was never a good team last year.
You're out of your mind! They were every bit as good as they are this year. Heck, the right adjustments at the half against LC (or any adjustments) and they go on to win state.

They won last year, a mere one year removed. Sorry, I didn't understand that your initial question had such a limited scope.

You need to add that St.X cant kick extra points to that.

Yeah, whats up with that? Very odd for X. It looked like they were trying out kickers at halftime.

So they go on and win ky 3a. That doesn't mean they were any good. By my standards they were bad.

St. X looked a lot better to me than two years ago. Vic was great then and even better now. The receivers are much quicker. They have at least two very good quarterbacks. As for the Knights, Hancock probably had good stats but this is misleading because many of his completions were the result of LexCath receivers out-jumping the defenders for the ball. Nevertheless, this was a tough start for his career and Hancock didn't hurt the team. The defense was awful. Vic and the X receivers seemed to break around the outside on every touchdown. Priority One: don't give the opposing offense the outside lane. The DEs and corners need to force the action to the middle. This is the first year since I've followed Catholic that they didn't have an adequate kicker. Maybe it was first game jitters. Thank you X for not running up the score, I know you could have won by seventy if you wanted to, maybe more. Bright spot: we'll not see anything like X the rest of the season, however a lot of work needs to be done on tackling and scoring when we enter the Red Zone. Final thought, I don't think we are as bad as we looked tonight. That said, we need to really focus on Scott County in two weeks and use the feelings we have tonight as impetus for preparing for the next game.
