No. As cynical as I am I refuse to believe people want to incite violence in the name of TV ratings. It's a lazy narrative.

You have never watched MSNBC before then because that is exactly what AL Sharpton did during the Michael Brown incident and riots afterwards.

I would think, barring some other evidence, that the only officer that would be in danger of getting fired would be the officer that initially opened fire on the car. The department policy is pretty clear that the officers are not allowed to fire at a moving vehicle. The other officers could very well think that the suspect was shooting at them given that the first officer was kinda shooting at them. As for the officer that shot him in the back I'd say that unless there is some evidence that hasn't been released he will be in the clear given the circumstances.

 

The officer that initially opened fire will have a hard time explaining how he thought the suspect was shooting at him.

According to Chicago Police Department guidelines officers are prohibited from firing at a moving vehicle when the vehicle is the lone threat. The vehicle had already struck their vehicle and was driving away when the first 3 officers (I thought it was 1) opened fire. Not only was it a residential neighborhood but the officers fired toward other officers on scene.

I posed the debate earlier. What is policy for police re: fleeing suspects? Do we want police shooting fleeing unarmed suspects?

 

If they have committed acts of violence to others, are still a threat and cannot be detained then yes, you have to eliminate the threat.

The chief said the officers who fired at the vehicle violated policy.

 

He will not be able to use this as a defense for firing at the deceased.

Question in this case is in regards to him being "still a threat." That one is going to be tough to justify since he had no gun and was on foot running away from the officer.
