Joey Votto Is A Jerk...And It's Awesome

Featured Replies

Dude all Reds fans have been plotting how to get rid of him for how many years now? You and I included.

That's more because the Reds organization can't be successful and still pay him the money that he's worth. Kills them.

I loved it. The guys job is to get out of the way and keep Votto from hurting himself coming over the wall.

I think the apology was uncalled for. Dude should have been escorted out of the stadium.

This is a joke right?

Nope. Rules state that any ball that is in beyond the barrier to the playing field is free game to both fans and players. The fan had every right to go after the ball, as did Joey.

Maybe by the rule, you are correct but my fan code says the opposite. You do everything you can to help the home team, including letting your star first baseman make a play on that ball. If it's an opponent, throw your popcorn at him, sing him some Nelly, whatever it takes to distract him from making the catch and hurting your team.

I'm with you...if this were a playoff game or we were fighting for the division.

I'm not with you since we are 21.5 games out of first place.

Yea, those are the worst.

Boo

Boo

But me and HT agree, so you lose! You're the worst! :D

Can we all agree that the Votto apology may have been the least sincere of all time?

I'd say somebody told him to (read: made him) do that.

I've made some way less sincere apologies to different ladies in my life lol.

Absolutely, he's a complete tool like I said a week ago, before this happened.

"Joey, we're only drawing 47 fans per game, don't tick them off!"

I would venture to say that someone suggested he apoligize to the fan...

I'd like to think that he was actually sorry too. It was pretty mean.

But c'mon. If you're a fan sitting there, you have to be prepared for that situation. Basic fan knowledge is going out the window.

My daughter almost got hit by a ball a couple weeks ago at a Reds game. She complained to me expecting sympathy. What she got was a lecture on paying attention while at sporting events.

Count me in the camp not at all offended by this. It's the physical embodiment of "C'mon Man."

Before Votto apologized to the guy, the guy told a writer for the Enquirer that he hoped he had a chance to apologize to Votto. Said that he knew better than that, and he screwed up.

Like I said, much ado about nothing.
