July 21, 201610 yr Author Probably about $1.50....I almost never keep change in my car. Funny story about change. Most (if not all) the parkways in KY years ago use to have tolls on them. One of the last ones taken out was on the Natcher between the WY Parkway and Owensboro. I'm in Owensboro for work and instead of staying overnight I am heading back fairly late. I am about a mile from the toll booth when I realize...I have no cash on me and don't have a thing in my cup holder where I usually keep my change. I pull my truck over and I am combing through it to find anything that may have fallen between the seats, under the floor mats, under the seats, anywhere a nickel, dime, heck even a penny may be hiding. After several minutes of tearing my truck apart to find change, I finally found enough dimes, nickels and pennies that were scattered sight unseen around my truck to make up the 60 cents it took to pay the toll. I was actually sweating because I didn't want to have to write a check for 60 cents for a toll.
July 21, 201610 yr I usually only let it pile up for a couple days before depositing it in bottles inside. Got great big ones for quarters and nickels, and smaller fifth bottles for dimes and pennies.

July 21, 201610 yr Zero. Our city police chief sends us emails not to leave anything of value in our cars, not even loose change. Because of the heroin epidemic, there are folks that will break your window just to get that quarter you left in the cup holder. I even put my sunglasses out of site.

I use to have as much as $20 in change in the console however that changed'pun intended' when a good friend of mine got her window smashed all because of the change she had in her car which was the only thing the thieves took. Lesson learned.:isurrender: This happened to me, right in my drive-way.

When I've got change in my pocket, I don't use it at the next purchase if the total bill is $8.32 or whatever. It's kind of a back-door way of forcing myself to save money. And since I got a washer-dryer a few months back, I'm piling up quarters pretty fast. I've got a dime bottle nearly full that I'm guessing has about $150 or so in it. Anxious to count that one.
July 21, 201610 yr Cashed out $35 bucks just last week. Usually takes a month to rack that up if I can keep my kids out of it.
July 21, 201610 yr $10-$15 bucks in change in this storage compartment in the console. Has a cover, so you can't see it. I always say I'm going to cash it in at CoinStar when I'm at Kroger's and yet I never do.
July 21, 201610 yr I probably have $1 or so -- I used to have more, but most of the parking meters now have credit card capability or you can download an app & pay that way, so change isn't always needed. I do have a nice change sorter that fits right into the cup holder, although I keep it in the center console. Most of the quarters are long gone, though.
July 21, 201610 yr Not much in my car. Maybe $3 I have a change jug in the house that I would bet has 3 grand in it though. Been working on that thing for years and it is almost full despite the wife and kids robbing it regularly for snack money etc.
