July 24, 201610 yr I thought that as well and tried it once - learned real fast that my kids charged a higher rate than the Coinstar machines! Same at our house. Whatever they rolled, they each got a roll of quarters. We usually let the change pile up in jars before cashing it in for vacation for them or an item they really wanted but didn't save enough to buy. I laugh when I remember in 1981, New Year's week, we cashed it in and they bought a new portable TV for the basement. That was a heavy load to pack into the bank. Should have paid the store with it for the TV. Normally, I keep around $40 in the glove box for emergencies like gas or if I forgot my change purse to buy milk or bread etc. I always think of add ons if I'm just going for one thing.
July 24, 201610 yr Commonwealth CU has a change counter, its right by the front door in the Lawrenceburg branch, you type your account number in, drop the change and it deposits the total to your account and gives you a receipt. Our sons would not have liked that.
