July 21, 201610 yr Not much in my car. Maybe $3 I have a change jug in the house that I would bet has 3 grand in it though. Been working on that thing for years and it is almost full despite the wife and kids robbing it regularly for snack money etc. I was saving up all my change for some years to buy a Martin guitar. I had $1,100 saved up.....and then my girlfriend (now wife) moved to the UK for a year and I had to pay for intercontinental airfare. No more Martin guitar fund.

He has had it for as long as I can remember. It's only about 1/2 full but I can't imagine how much is in that thing. And it's extremely heavy. My brother-in-law paid for his vacation every year from the change he saved in a jug. He went out of the way to make change and would put it in jug everyday.
July 22, 201610 yr $10-$15 bucks in change in this storage compartment in the console. Has a cover, so you can't see it. I always say I'm going to cash it in at CoinStar when I'm at Kroger's and yet I never do. Take it to your bank and avoid the fee.

July 22, 201610 yr That's what his kids are for! I thought that as well and tried it once - learned real fast that my kids charged a higher rate than the Coinstar machines!
July 22, 201610 yr I would presume most banks have change-counter scales, don't they? I don't know about scales, but as the coins are counted they get sorted into plastic bags at the bottom of the machine. That's my second favorite part of the process after getting a handful of crisp hundos.
July 22, 201610 yr I used to keep alot in my car, but have gotten into the habit of taking it in and throwing it in a big jar nightly. I do keep alot of change in my computer bag, as I travel toll roads from time to time and have ran into situation where I've cashed a $20 over $0.65

We would go over and rolls the coins. I think I remember $1,600 bucks one year. The banks hated us!
July 22, 201610 yr Author You have to roll it up for them, don't you? Commonwealth CU has a change counter, its right by the front door in the Lawrenceburg branch, you type your account number in, drop the change and it deposits the total to your account and gives you a receipt.
July 22, 201610 yr There may be a rouge coin or two under a seat, but I don't keep any in my car on purpose.
