Beechwood is usually a mainstay in the top 10. Are they headed for a downturn?

Seniors Austin Rice and Noah Smedley are competing for the starting nod at QB.

He played QB almost all the way through youth football. Don't think he's played the position since 6th or 7th grade though.

Respect your poll and your opinion, but there is no way you can ever put CovCath above Highlands in a pre-season poll. At least not until a lot of things change.

 

Additionally, if CovCath is #5 in NKY it says more about 6-15 than it does them.

 

I think 5 seems like a pretty conservative spot for CovCath. Returning a decent foundation, including what should be one of the best QBs in NKY and the second year under the HC. I'm buying CCH stock.

 

IMHO, this is a critical year for Dixie. I think the program takes steps that project a positive future, or starts a downward spiral.

Think a lot of you, and value your opinion a great deal, but I'm officially parked in Missouri at this point on the Colonels. For the record, 4-6 against a schedule not nearly as tough as previous years shouldn't be #5 in NKY. Just my opinion. Again, if they are, says more about everyone else.

Overall record. Even in their state final run two years ago they laid an egg against CCH.

Holy Cross will get blown off the field by NewCath. I'm a Holmes guy and admit Holy Cross has passed us up in football for now, but NewCath is still on another level from them.

Are you really saying that last years schedule wasn't "nearly as tough as previous years?" That's incredibly silly IMO.

As for this year- substitute Oak Hills for Cincy St X ( which is obviously a much better matchup) and the rest of the schedule is (I believe) the same- so still very tough.

I think they have the skill players and Mayer will improve a lot from last year which is great news. The story will come down to the line play on both sides. Find the right formula and I see 7 wins. If the injury bug hits I see possibly a .500 season- but still at least in the top four in NKy behind Ryle and Highlands (got to beat them before I can predict otherwise)- and someone needs to convince me that SK will keep the bus rolling. I've seen what they've had coming up through the ranks and I don't see them leaps and bounds better than CCH this year at all.

No. In fact I'm saying THIS year's schedule isn't as tough as previous years. I'm then saying I still think they end up going 4-6. I'm then saying if that occurs, and they are truly the 5th best team in NKY THIS year (the rankings we've been discussing in this thread), it speaks volumes about the rest of NKY.

If you're talking about where the program is, I agree NCC is still a few steps ahead. This season they'll have a good QB, but NCC lost a good chunk. HC brings a lot back and in the regular season almost had them beat. I don't know about blown out, but until they beat NCC they stay behind them

I think CovCath's schedule is as difficult an anyone's in NKY. An argument could be made that it should be taken down a notch as the program builds back to a championship level contender.
