Breaking: James Ramsey Resigns from UofL

Featured Replies

I had no clue the Gov was allowed or could do this.

I wonder if Pitino is worried since he lost a guy who had his back.

Wow! The entire time I had a child at UofL I always found Dr. Ramsey as a genuinely nice person. We were always treated well.

Great guys can still be awful leaders. Doesn't mean he isn't a good guy.

My experience at that time was to the contrary.

I love that we have a governor who isn't afraid to shake the tree a little

I guess Jurich now jumps when the best opportunity comes up.

I don't think being nice was the issue, I think it was an underlying tone of corruption and cronyism that existed.

Hopefully the New Board will put UofL first and do what is best for the University, not what is best for the President's bank account.

Bevin’s ability to reduce funding allotment to public universities is very shady (and I believe was recently sent to the US Supreme Court for appeal). I have a child who is already feeling that impact - the person in place to assist student internships was just let go. I’m sure this is just one of many examples. Not sure how he’s improving KY’s future.

His involvement at UofL sickens me.

Anyone who's retirement is through the state should look at Bevin's cutting of funds as a necessary evil otherwise, the funds backing up their retirement may not be there when they retire themselves like Detroit and a few cities in California did to themselves.

Wishful thinking.

Agreed.

Past administrations have stolen from our teachers, police, firefighters, EMS and state workers pensions for years. Bevin said during the campaign that shoring up the State Retirement Fund was paramount for our states future. If turning over the leadership at UofL leads to better stewardship of our money, I think we can all support that.

Wishful thinking.

My guess is Jurich isn't planning to leave but my guess is he will be keeping aware of what is out there just in case he and the new president do not get along.

Wishful thinking.

Why? Isn't he partly responsible for building UofL's athletics program to be one of the best in the U.S.?

Yes. So how does that support your theory that he'll jump ship at first opportunity?

I would say it is silly to think that Jurich's agent isn't looking around for possible future openings at top rated universities so if things do go South in regards to his place at the university in regards to his relations with University's senior leadership, he can make a quick exit but at the same time, I seriously doubt Jurich is drafting his resignation letter.
