June 17, 201610 yr If our state is as dire at the others… sure, let’s take dramatic measures. Oh and while we’re at it let’s get consensus for these decisions. With Bevin this was a unilateral decision, bypassing the legislature, when we’re not in a budget shortfall. Scary and shady. Not the guy I would want in charge of anything that touches me or my family.

Jurich has been prominent enough to expect UofL's president to give him pretty much unlimited discretion and freedom how to run the athletic department with little interference from the president. Will a future president be willing to do so or will that president feel he/she needs to reign in the school after all of this and Jurich won't want any part of that?? UofL will be under a microscope for the next year or so and that is no fun to work under even if you run and squeaky clean department because regardless, everything you do will be questioned. I don't know what will happen but if I were a prominent University with an AD near retirement, I would be putting feelers out to Jurich's agent saying they would love to talk to Jurich should things not go as he likes. I would say based on what we know now, there is only a 25% chance Jurich ends up leaving.
June 17, 201610 yr I see no reason that Jurich should be worried, but it would be stupid to think that in a battle between a new President and the AD that the AD will come out on top. Jurich will be fine and should be, but an AD is never untouchable...even one as successful as Jurich.

I believe KY law places the responsibility of appointing board members for the State universities to the Governor and University boards are expected to hire presidents with I assume the governor getting final approval.

June 17, 201610 yr Speaking of which, where is GetSlow? No one has been more adamant in the past about accusing Ramsey of allowing shady crap to go on at UofL than he has. He should feel some degree of redemption for some of the doubt BGP members (including myself early on, munching on crow now) had in his accusations.

Welp, I left at 6:00 this morning for six days in a house on a bay just off Lake Michigan, so I'm late to the party. Haven't had a chance to read much yet, but this has been a long time coming. This isn't the way I wanted it to happen, but here we are.
