Featured Replies

Texas will succeed from the union before this ever happens.

Texas as a state "succeeds" quite well. Now whether it secedes from the US is another matter:)!

99.999% of legal gun owners killed no one today.

Face it, the only people new laws or even repealing the 2nd all together will impact are those 99.999%.

Criminals and would be terrorist I doubt would be turning in their guns.

A start would be to enforce all current gun laws, but you know why we don't. Because it would add to an already over crowded prison system and many of you would be screaming bloody murder because enforcement targeted the poor and down trodden...without admitting the only people being targeted are actually criminals.

Preach on. If the 2nd Amendment was ever repealed, the black market for guns would probably rival the black market for drugs. If people can find a way to get illegal drugs, they will find a way to get illegal guns...

J Edgar must be rolling in his grave. This one is squarely on the Feds, imo. They had him in their sights and stopped watching. How many red flags were needed to stay the course? At the very least, he shouldn't have been able to purchase a gun and walk out with one. Then again, you can get those on the street.

According to the Congressional Research Service, there are roughly twice as many guns per capita in the United States as there were in 1968: more than 300 million guns in all. Gun sales have increased in recent years.

Yet mass shooting are up in record numbers. Seems to be working well.

Your link reflects that gun ownership is on the decline...and where are you getting mass shooting up in record numbers?

Household ownership is down, but the amount of guns purchased is way up.

^That's without the last few. I didn't see a current one. Hard to post that stuff from phone.

If the Orlando murders were committed using a car bomb, would you propose a ban on cars?

That's bordering on a geometric rather than an arithmetical progression.

I don't want to ban guns so no, I wouldn't want to ban cars in your awful comparison.

Well done...you won't sway me with stats. I'm sticking to my guns and that more are a deterrent in the hands of properly trained citizens, law enforcement, military.

Since you've exercised good acumen on stats HT....look into Mental Health service stats associated with mass shootings. What if anything can you scrounge up on that concept?

Could there be a connection...

It's too hard to do that from my phone.

It's very difficult to find accurate stats on mental health considering we have added a huge number of conditions that now qualify as mental health disorder compared 10-15 years ago.

I have no doubt in my mind there is a correlation in the numbers and once again a growing problem in the country.

There are a number of things we can do to try to change things. The simple more guns , I can buy whatever gun I want anytime, it's my right, ect... answers are silly to me. It's not getting better by doing what we are doing now. At least be somewhat open minded to a solution. (Not you specifically)

12 Times Mass Shootings Were Stopped by Good Guys With Guns

I'll keep the right thanks.... Hitler disarmed his country...that worked out well didn't it.

The government disarmed the American Indian. How'd that work out for them?

Both good examples of when disarming groups went wrong.

What about more modern examples of strict gun control?

Mexico, I recommend a documentary called cartel land.

Is that on Netflix?

In all seriousness our nation needs to examine every option. Good and bad.
